Bobby if you are reading this I just wanted to compliment you on how well you are singing here. Your voice is very distinctive and instantly recognizable. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seemed like there was a period when you were having some difficulty with it and some range and pitch issues on certain songs. Whatever the case may be, it has come back and sounds great here. If ever you come to the Washington D.C. area let me know. I would love to interview you. In the meantime, take good care and continue being the humble and giving person that you are. I know you do a lot of good for others that extends well beyond your music! One last thing. When I think of Toto and its success, I think of you and your powerful, soulful, and melodic voice. It would be great someday if you could all make music together again but I understand that people grow apart and that is sometimes just a natural progression that is inevitable and difficult to avoid. Regardless, your work here demonstrates that you still have so much to offer. You have a gift!

As a lifelong Toto fan going back to sometime around 1982 (maybe before) the amount of talent and skill each and every member, past and present has in the band is incredible. As a drummer myself since i was a very young boy, I was, and still are a huge Jeff Porcaro fan. Love Steve Lukather also but i digress. I was lucky to go see Toto live for my first time whilst living in the UK (I'm Australian and back in those days Toto rarely if ever, came here). My now wife and I flew to Frankfurt Germany in 2002 to see them at the Jahrhunderhalle for their Through The looking glass tour. What a buzz. In fact, as i write this i'm wearing the long sleeve Toto Through The Looking Glass shirt i bought at that gig. I can still see and hear in my mind Bobby Kimball doing a solo vocal part, no microphone, so therefore no amplification, and while we were sat probably 100 or more feet away up in the top tier stand we could all hear Bobby's vocal loud and clear. Incredible power. Some weeks later Toto announced two gigs in the UK, one in London and the other in Manchester. We snapped up tickets and went again. Amazing, just like the Frankfurt gig. Back here in Perth Western Australia i was blown away when Toto announced a very unexpected gig at Metro City in Perth, Western Australia on 10 March 2008. Of course the wife and I snapped up tickets for that too. This time though, we were stood at the foot of the stage looking up Booby's and Tony Spinner's noses. Crap venue, but Toto blew the roof off the place as usual. I have video and photo's from that gig taken on my old Nokia (remember them?!) phone. Bobby spotted me taking the 30 second video and came over to the edge of the stage and sang directly into my camera for the whole time. Incredible muse's, incredible band. I miss Bobby. I love Joseph and what he has brought to the band over the many many years but, for me, Bobby was the Toto front man. No one sings or entertains like Bobby Kimball. I hope we get to see Bobby back with Toto soon, even just for a cameo appearance. But i doubt it sadly. Keep rocking bobby. You're a star.

When he sings more in baritone-range, his voice can handle it prettty well as his register has lowered in that age. But going up to G4-C5 would be very painful and those registers are required for Toto -songs etc. This solo work works with him much better.

The very first note he hits in this video is an A4, and he hits quite a few C5s in this video (he even gets an E5 in Scam).. I think his voice is naturally quite high, so G4-C5 is probably his Goldilocks zone for well-controlled belting (assuming his technique is good)

only thing i did was straighten out his vibrato at times..I know everyone thinks there has to be autotune on him based on his hearing problems live , but not in the studio !!! i can pull out the added instruments he does not need that cloud his hearing and he stays in pitch...It's the same when he's alone on the piano he stays dead on...There's a hearing issue that's what your seeing live from him at 250 it drops like a rock to 8000k, had a audiological evaluation done on him before we started this record..I'm working on custom in ears for him now from a company that deals with hearing loss situations.... and believe me there is a lot lost there , so i hope to get him reset for live shows shortly...Thx
