As a drummer, Tool's music was really my main inspiration growing up. I can for sure say, i wouldn't be the same man and have the same outlook on the world, if it wasn't for this band. People might dismiss this. But imagine growing up in a house with violence.. Music is your only escape. Only with bands like Tool, could you hear someones else in pain, in a piece of art.
@zacharyforeal4 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it also changed how you look at drumming.
@blameTheDane4 жыл бұрын
@@zacharyforeal Ofc, my mind first exploded when i heard Neil Peart (Rest in Peace) drumming in the band Rush. I didn't think it was possible for a person, to do the stuff he did. Years later when i discovered Tool, Danny Carey took that belief, crushed it, made some crazy math around it, and beat it right back in my face. I literately used a month and a half of my summer vacation to learn just ONE of his songs, every 10 second of a tool song would take days to analyze, then try out, then go back to listening, then try it again, over and over again, and i remember some seconds i never got down, even after trying for months, because i didn't have the technique or he simply.... Too damn fast.. So much goes into drumming. Before Neil and Danny, i saw it as a stick hitting a skin keeping a rhythm. After these two icons, i saw it as science, how the stick moved in your hand, how your little finger controlled everything, but not only that.. Drums isn't just for rhythm.. They can create melodies in the right persons hands. i could write a whole essay on these two guys and what they have done for music today.. Even though THEIR bands never got the fame they deserve (in my eyes), they still inspired a whole new generation of drummers, which we hear today. That's the greatest impact that exist.
