Not the content we deserve, but the content we need. If it makes you feel better, starfish don’t actually have butts. They only have one hole for everything and have radial symmetry, not bilateral; that starfish is just some guy who only curls with one arm. It is not like minstrel shows 😒, minstrel shows had a power dynamic, to display stereotypes about black people that genuinely kept them down in society. That tended to follow certain tropes like mammy, old darky, mulatto wench, dandy, slave, etc. Proclaiming that all black people were unintelligent, overly sexual, happy as slaves etc. Deeply entrenched in racism. Drag performances are all different like movies and have different themes depending on the person. Someone’s drag character might be dumb but they aren’t proclaiming all women are dumb, or that women shouldn’t have access to education etc. What stereotypes of women is she displaying here?, a well dressed women who won a game show? Oh no.
