Previous knowledge of music, which was only heard by black folks. Dre and others like myself that were born in the 60's heard a lot of music when we had 45's, 's, 12-inch singles....it's part of black culture, soul, blues, small records, one-hit wonders, funk, quotes, etc.

You can't get sued if you get permission and that allows the artist to get paid for old shit every time NWA sells and plays on radio. That's standard sample knowledge, same goes for remakes, renditions & remixes. Is it work for hire, parody, compilation, etc.....samples mixed with his original parts as well....but drum tracks cannot be copyrighted, unless it is written out and published.

Tbh when I read your comment I kinda got angry lmao but people who don’t associate themselves with this kinda music normally have this reaction when they found out about all what goes on in the production process. You would be surprised how many metal songs sample things I actually heard a guy sample the same drums out of the amen brother track by the winstons the same used in straight outta Compton. In hip hop the art form is sampling songs and putting together to make a whole different song/project, it’s actually a really creative process and can take more time than originally creating it. Just saying most of your favourite songs probably sample something but that doesn’t mean they are copies. Just think before you say something like that on a video like this because a lot of people will seriously bite back in the comment section lol.
@wheelman13245 жыл бұрын
In all seriousness, the reason the NWA didn’t make as much money despite their popularity was probably because of their sampling. Jerry Heller probably didn’t help, though.
