Transforming Cones into Creatures

Using basic shapes to create creatures is a lot of fun and we often forget the importance of using those shapes. In this tutorial, I explain how using cones is not only incredibly easy, but useful as well.
Drawing is a skill that most people wish they could do but they immediately put themselves in the category of "Oh, I could never do that." I want to take this time and welcome you to my channel: Draw Sessions.
I've been drawing all my life and have had the privilege of working both for AAA game studios and also movies. I have taught foundation drawing at the University of Cincinnati and it's time now to give back. I understand the frustrations of learning art in general but specifically, drawing. I love these! Love to watch you draw, also mesmerized by the way you 'switch between brushes' from the 'sweet spot' to the pointy graphite. Keep it up, you're inspiring me to draw more.

Another great addition! Ive been really giving this style a go, i love the visual appeal of your work. I would say where my work really lacks is the design/concept. I just dont have the most expansive visual library. It seems everytime i sit down to draw from ref say bugs, animals, etc, i always wind back drawing nude females...lol. I mean i do love that, but god id like to create some nightmarish creatures for said females.

I hear ya. In your case, you need to give yourself a personal project and hold yourself accountable to it. It helps keep you focused and it also allows you to keep the project sketches separate from random doodles and your go-to stuff.

Ooooo, another creature feature! :) Bob... he looks like a Bob. I've seen quite a few mighty weird creatures under the sea. Glad I didn't meet Bob, though. LOL!

Excellent drawing. Call it conicus tentaculatus. I recommend looking up the fossils found in Murchison Shale in Canada. Pretty inspirational stuff.

@6:50 hes referring to putting triangles inside a circles or a cylinders inside a squares. Another practice is merging shapes.....stack a bunch together and blend the shadows to form one solid structure.
