Great video, very interesting to see how the motor is constructed. I look forward to part 2 when you get it together again.

Are those little plugs that you took out at about five minutes in, are those the drains they were supposed to check and make sure they’re not clogged?
@toddtwenter32422 жыл бұрын
We just rebuilt both of ours on our 763 using our manual and watching your video. LIke yours our geroller was not super tight but with a little oil on it it didn't just fall apart. No grooves or scratches we could see although you could see wear on the plates (but not feel it). We rebuilt them becuase we keep bypassing oil into the chaincase. We replaced the carrier seals a couple times ourselves being very carefull to slip the seal over the shaft. We also just had Bobcat replace them both in case we were doing something wrong. We replaced all but one hydraulic line on the case drains and both case drain filters. Still bypassing all the hyd oil in about 10 minutes. Going to watch the flow out of the case drain lines tomorrow. Oh and we ran the motors externally with no load and neither one bypasses any oil without load on them. What a puzzle!

Dead center of carrier shaft is a plug that if loose will allow oil to bypass into chain case. When you pull the motor you will see what I'm talking about. Probably the most overlooked item when you have oil pumping in to the chain case.

I promised an update so here it is. We put new seal kits in both drive motors from Loader Parts Source (nice people). Removed all the inline filters on the case drain lines (will replace) and checked for good oil flow. Tighten the center screws on both sides but unsure if they were lose or not. We also had Bobcat of Columbia (also nice guys) replace both carrier seals. One of them failed and they just hammered them in with a tool (basically a piece of pipe). The small spring around the seal had fallen off when we inspected them. Here's a suggestion - we wrapped tape around a 2" PVC sewer pipe until it expanded the seal to allow it to slide over the shaft. That seems much better than beating on a new seal. We couldn't get it by hand but it was cold that day. We are driving around with the chain case cover off and looking down at the drive sprockets. We pulled the chain case plug (25 gallons of hydraulic fluid in it) and are watching for leaks. 15 minutes of running around and we are going to button it back up. I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling but it's not leaking yet.

@@tetradgroup I've got a 843 that is putting oil in the chain case but the drive motors feel strong, think that plug is probably the issue?
@toddtwenter324210 ай бұрын
One more post a year later. We never resolved this and used it with low power over the Summer. We've now pulled the engine/pump + both drive motors and ran it outside of the machine. We added ball valves and gauges so that we could see pressure on all four lines from the drive pump. We also split the hydrostatic pumps apart and looked for damaged (in good shape we believe no gouges or scratches at all). The problem looks like a blow seal on a wear plate in one of the drive motors. It gushes oil under pressure and that would explain the loss of drive power. A kit is ordered and I'll follow up. Also working on a KZbin post to share.

I'm new to this. I have a melroe bobcat m700 that only 1 side wants to drive. I see everyone talking about oil in the chain case. Is it supposed to have no oil in there. Mine has a decent amount in there?

Where can I buy the rebuild o ring and seal kit from for a bobcat 863 with the 9 bolt wet type drive motors, other than Bobcat dealers, thank you for any advice you can give me

With the drive motor out of the machine on a bench does the shaft spin by your hand or not. I pulled both out to replace drive seals and one spins and the other doesn’t. Thanks for any help

Do you offer rebuild services? My drive motor on my T190 just sprung a leak (floating face seal). I stopped using it before all of the gear oil leaked out.

Really appreciate these videos. Now I can confidently tear down and rebuild the drives on my old 753. Do you have any videos for 1999 X331 excavators? More specifically the control valve sections and the final drives?

Thank you so much! I don't have any videos on the excavator drive sections yet but thanks for the idea.

do you have a video on an old style 753 motor? do you know if either of the motors you show would fit in place of the 4 bolt motor?

Reverse on the one side of my s100 is really weak. Steering arm even pushes throttle down when trying to pull in reverse Dealer said after seals it needs timed. The average person can't do he said. heard anything about that ? Havent seen youtube guys mention timing when doing seals
@tetradgroup Жыл бұрын
Yes, it needs to be timed correctly. It's super easy to do with a service manual.

@tetradgroup10 ай бұрын
Motor carrier seals and possibly bearings. Usually it's just the seals

Yep, the ol' self diagnosis, has to be the drive motor. At least we know what's not the problem 🙂

Can a drive motor leak in to the main frame case on a 753 thanks
@tetradgroup2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it can leak into the chain case thru carrier shaft seal. Also check the center of the carrier for a small plug, make sure it is tight and sealed properly. Easy job and should probably do both sides while you are in there. Just remove the drive motor and you will see the shaft seal, pop it out and install new seal.
