It has been a very long time since I have seen a good deal at any auction. I have a lot of respect for anyone who takes the time to buy a basket case and make it work again. Every thing I have was someone else's junk.

GREAT VIDEO!!!! I bought a T870 (with forestry kit) at auction in MN, sight unseen from a municipality knowing that it "doesn't run properly, starts fine, then cuts out periodically". 2011 Bobcat with 3800 hrs, tracks good, no leaks, hydraulics all good, 2 speed, selectable controls, heat, air, forestry door, everything but a radio. Thought worst case scenario would be a new injection pump and injectors...First thing I did was buy a service and operators manual...read up on the fuel system and it clearly says use no more than 5% biodiesel in this machine...which as everyone knows in MN is hard to get because this state in their infinite wisdom went to 20% biodiesel a few years ago. I immediately drained the fuel tank, added some bio diesel tank cleaner, changed the fuel filter (twice) crossed the border into ND to get some non biodiesel and the rest is history...have 4200ish hrs on it now and zero problems!

IRISH SGM, that’s awesome!! The engines usually don’t fail on these unless they are truly abused. My gut told me this was a fuel issue and I was luckily right. Thank you for your service btw. I’m a CPT currently transitioning out of the NG 🍻

buying broke shit is one thing. buying neglected shit is a whole nother level of suffering and pain.

But knowing the difference may be the magic of a good Quantum mechanic , “is the cat dead or alive or both” ?

if you are using a regular cold water pressure washer. hose the machine down with oven cleaner, yellow can. let it sit 5-10minutes then give her the spray down. it will actually come clean! stuff is only 3 bucks a can.
@Brandon_Builds2 жыл бұрын
I will give that a shot in the future! Thanks!

@@Brandon_Builds dont breathe it, rinse it off ur skin cause itll start to burn. in my experience it wont harm paint or finishes. my excavator was a nightmare to clean before i got this tip.

Right on finally a equipment story with a fairytale ending ❤😂 I keep hoping someday I’ll get one ? But for now I better roll up my sleeves, I’m in that awkward transition stage where you can’t afford a mechanic and you can’t afford not a mechanic I call this Quantum Mechanic state-of-being-broke ?😮

They were filling this machine off bulk storage that had water in it. Pickup bed tanks and the likes often leak. He put all this shit in line cause they are too lazy to 1. clean the machines fuel tank. 2. too lazy to clean their own fuel storage of all the water in it.

The T870 with the tier 4 kubota (which you have) should have an electronic lift pump and not a hand prime pump. Also I recommend not disconnecting the fuel hoses going to your filter head or flipping the filter upside-down. Doing so could cause debris/contaminants to enter your fuel system, which in your case is a common rail fuel system.
@Brandon_Builds2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I did end up getting the OEM lift pump installed. The previous removed it entirely

That cheap inline filter may not flow enough GPM for your machine especially once it gets some crud in it.

How much?

if you had drained the fuel system at the injection pump it woulda fired right up no canned fluid. it would have eventually cranked to life under its own power. But understand you still have water in that tank.
@anthonybennallack90872 жыл бұрын
I would flush the system, if it has water In the system. It may have been in a flood zone.
@Brandon_Builds2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been working on the fuel system, had lots of water make its way to the fuel filter where I can release it. I’ve gone through one tank of fuel and had clean diesel toward the end. If the next tank still has a lot of water I will flush it. It also sat with an empty tank likely collecting condensation
