Yes, Miyako plays drums decently, played brass and wind instruments as a kid, and laid down the bass tracks on the demos for the new album (before Fami formally joined). On "Phoenix", as part of her short-lived stint as one half of Sonic Lover Reckless", she recorded all three guitar lines as well as the bass line.

hi - new subscriber here - I found you as I was surfing through Nightwish reaction videos, and via you I've discovered Lovebites - and Wow, thank you - what a band! My all-time dream gig (Rammstein and Nightwish!) would now include Lovebites - like those other legends, this band is absolutely tight and together, in tune with each other in every sense, full of talent and low on pomposity, obviously loving what they're doing and therefore doing it absolutely right. Thank you thank you thank you!

I always enjoy watching informed reactions from somebody who knows their stuff. That's the thing that really impresses me the most about this group of ladies.. the work ethic and and the constant quest for improvement, growing both individually and as a band. They spent the hiatus productively, have rediscovered their love for what they do, and it is paying off, and then some.

Lovebites is my favorite band (ever) for a multitude of reasons. Bottom line is there are 5 members who are elite level at what they do, and like you questioned, as far as I'm concerned I have NEVER witnessed a band in over 50 years of listening to metal that is chock full of such talent. And not even a Super Group can measure up to them. Their compositions are complex and layered.

Another great reaction Bob. I appreciate how you pick up on the nuances and technical aspects of the music. Haruna does so many “little” things and you mentioned only a couple. I put “little” because they aren’t lol! Also, this is the first time Haruna has had a mic and joins in the shout parts. You can often see her mouthing the song but not with her own dedicated mic, at least I’ve never seen one in any of the live performances. I also really like the harmonies in the chorus from Midori, Fami and Miyako. Asami has put a bit more edge and grit in her vocals for this song. I can see in your background that you are a multi-instrumentalist like I am and can really appreciate what all the ladies are doing.

Hi from the UK Bob. Have watched three of your reactions and analysis to the awesome Lovebites. This group of ladies are masters of their craft. They are described as one of the best female rock groups. I would say they are one of the best rock groups, male or female! You pick out some intricate elements of their playing, which I love. They deserve a bigger following. Trouble is, traditionally, air play normally has a time range of between two and a half to three minutes so folks don't get to appreciate longer songs. They are all beasts. Haruna, well, she is my "pocket rocket" and you are correct in saying they are all virtuoso's. I'm in! Best wishes.

I have been saying this since 2017 when I first found Lovebites with their debut song Don't bite the Dust, that the complexity and prolific compositions are incomparable to many bands of today as well as many bands of the past. The engineering and technical abilities that they have created from incorporating and infusing so many styles and genres in the variations of songs as well as in one song. Me and a friend began to call this "The Queens of Resurrection metal" Lovebites has literally resurrected the driving force of rock/metal from the mid-70s to the 80s

@@bobcieslinski You are welcome. May I use the comment section here for a suggestion? In your video list, I couldn't find a reaction to the Japanese female heavy metal band "Nemophila". Besides Lovebites, Band Maid and Baby Metal the belong to the big four of the Jap. fraulein wonder. One of their heavier song is "Dissension" kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGfEfqiXnd2tbsU . The most personal and touching song is "Life" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnfRdoyel6p0p8k . Just a short (1:47) fun song is the cover of Minions / Banana Song kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp7OmnaYZ52Bj6M . Nevertheless it tells a lot about these five world class musicians.

@@bobcieslinski Great. -- Untypical, Nemophila's newest song "Now I Here" (sic!) is a slow and calm rock ballad, as far as I know their first and only so far. Maybe they wrote it, because the drummer Tamu just got her second baby and the singer Mayu her first. I saw reactions to a live version, but I could not find the original on YT. -- And then there are their other 50 or 70 or so songs ;-))

It’s interesting that you think Miyako is the more technical guitarist. There’s an older interview with the ladies where Midori says she’s the more technical of the two. Of course, that was then, and they’ve both said that after the first album, they try to just play whatever rather than one being the technical guitarist and the other being the “feel” guitarist. And yes, Miyako can play drums. Fami can play guitar as well (check out her cover of “Don’t Say Lazy” on her channel), but I don’t think Haruna plays bass nor does Asami play guitar. I have no clue if Midori can sing, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Hey Pale Horse, nice to hear from you again! I bet all of these ladies can do everything just at different levels. I think both Midori and Miyako are outstanding technical and melodic players. I have so much respect for them both.

Howdy. It's been a while bob. Did you know that Miyako the dark haired guitarist had released her personal album on June 22nd. It is just an amazing work. It consists of six metal covers on piano but those are more than cover. You know how Miyako plays piano damn well. Try an album Miyako, Etude Opus 23. This is one of those covers Eagle Fly Free kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5mWc3-IqJWLqJY. She also covers Far Beyond the Sun by Yngwie Malmsteen and it sounds as if it was composed as a classic piece and Malmsteen covered with guitar. BTW, the full band Lovebites also covers Eagle Fly Free kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqCVYnt_gb-pj6c. Yes, it is a great cover as well.

Miyako can play drums, but unlike the guitar and piano, her drum skills are very basic and rudimentary. There are vids of her playing drums, and she's by no means a virtuoso on them, lol! Average, at best, I would say. Not terrible, but nobody would sign her as a drummer. That's okay, though. She can't be god-level on every instrument she touches!

I'm tired of Miyako worshippers. As far as talented she is, she's nothing without the rest of the band, this is the alchemy that makes Lovebites so great and unusual. Those constant remarks about Miyako playing this and playing that are so disrespectful for the rest of the band.
