Excellent review however, another review of the same vehicle now in the 4th year would be grand to know if any issues popped up regarding the "mild" hybrid experiment.

DIESEL HYBRID is the way forward
@brendanc55195 жыл бұрын
I agree diesel hybrid is the way forward, I have a citroen C4 grand Picasso 1.6 hdi , it has a 50 litre tank and it gets nearly 840 km from a tank, the Toyota auris hybrid also has a 50 litre tank and gets around 180 km less.

Volvo know how to do a good interior these days. With the cream leather option, it looks really well.

It's very luxury, there's something about a bright interior that I like anyway

I have a diesel-electric Hybrid Peugeot 3008 2014 that works well. I think that Bob even reviewed it. It has optional 4wd with a 20bhp electric motor driving the rear wheels and a 2l 180 bhp diesel driving the front. Using both motors and stop/start It returns over 50mpg which i think is not bad for an suv

I get 51mpg in my diesel xc90 b5 diesel and I drive 130km every day. So it just depends upon how you drive.

Just taken delivery of a XC90 mild hybrid, all I can say , volvo have made a great car, choose black interior, think should have been a lighter colour, but we can live with it.10 out of 10.

Still not as good as a simple knob, when it’s loud in the cabin or people are talking it’s much easier to just click something.

A good all-round review. I just wish you'd given more info on how the mild hybrid technology works contributing to a reduction on fuel and fumes. P.S I was waiting for a long time for a review on the B5. Nobody else seems to bother with the update.
@yuhufeng53704 жыл бұрын
Most manufacturers use the generic 48v/12v solution. So does the B5 engine. Though it’s quite different on B6, the idea is very much the same

How much of an improvement from a 2018 D5? Are there any interior design changes? Looking to choose between buying used or financing from new
@BobFlavinVideo5 жыл бұрын
B5 is a far nicer drive than the D5, there's something about the seating position and suspension that makes it a nicer place to be. Go for the B5 if you can

Use voice to change temperature and turn seat and steering wheel heat on and off. Voice actually works perfectly for these but is fairly hopeless for the phone and navigation, especially bad with Welsh names.

1:50 Strange, I was convinced all 2020 B5 models would have the smaller electronic gear lever (shift by wire) instead of the older bigger mechanical one.
@hedydd25 жыл бұрын
The transmission remains the IW unit used in the D4 and D5 versions. This isn't a CVT or anything.
@fmsantoscar5 жыл бұрын
Huw Williams incorrect! I have factory ordered a XC90 B5 and the one I test drove had an electronic gear lever. I’m sure Bob can confirm this. Maybe he used an old stock picture there?
@yuhufeng53704 жыл бұрын
Ur right, except all diesel models remain unchanged. On gas models, electronic gear shifts are default

I have to disagree with you on the 3rd row seats, the citroen C4 grand Picasso has more knee room the boot might be smaller but there is extra storage space under the 3rd row to make up the loss, and the middle row can go back and forth.

£60,000 is about average price for the XC90 B5 in the UK with a tidy, not extreme spec. The sound system is a ridiculous £3000 extra though, which is ridiculous on top of the standard fit unit.

Since when is Volvo producing this B5 diesel engine? I found one from 2017, 2WD, 190 HP, is it correct? 😮
@stephendoherty82915 жыл бұрын
No Volvo said they would no longer sell fossil fuel ONLY cars in future. So its hybrid, PHEV or EV
@yuhufeng53704 жыл бұрын
They didn’t. They said over 50% of their car sell would be ev/phev by 2050. And that they would provide hybrid for every power train. B4 2021 for example, does have non-hybrid diesel models
