Suzanne i.e. Susie Ma is a British-Chinese skincare entrepreneur, philanthropist and Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree. She is known for her appearances on the seventh season of the BBC television series The Apprentice in 2011, where despite coming in third place, she secured investment from Lord Alan Sugar. Her company, Tropic Skincare, has been recognised as the fastest growing skincare brand in the UK, selling 3.3 million products per year. Has a great podcast episode with the High Performance Podcast, should listen. Really evolved into an astute business woman. Jim is hilarious though.

Shame she's giving away 50% of all her earnings for a 250k startup investment from Sugar, eh? Suppose at those numbers you don't really notice losing a few million, but it was a terrible business decision.

@@HoneyBadgarDontGive aye, she could have even started smaller if accessing the money was difficult. Plenty of companies start on sites like Etsy and still end up in department stores, no idea why she had no other alternative but to take a bad deal. Perhaps she's good at marketing (as is everyone on social media these days) but not particularly business minded. I just can't imagine a world where a quarter mil is worth a 50% cut of every single penny she earns for the rest of her life. Excellent for him though, explains why he's so rich. 250k is definitely shrapnel for him. Fund a few eager youth pipedreams, one lands, make back 10 times the investment in no time at all.

To all my engineering colleagues, I'm sorry to say that this was an unfortunate comment from Lord Sugar. Just a small list of successful engineers in the business world: - Jeff Bezos: Electrical Engineer Degree - Bernard Arnault: Engineering Degree - Carlos Slim: Civil Engineer - Charles Koch: Chemical and Mechanical Engineering - David Koch: Chemical Engineering - Michael Bloomberg: electrical engineering - Larry Page: computer engineering - Mukesh Ambani: Chemical Engineering - Eric Schmidt: Electrical Engineering - James Ratcliffe: Chemical Engineering - Thomas Kwok: Civil Engineering - Leonid Mikhelson: Civil Engineering According to Forbes, more of the top 100 wealthiest people in the world studied engineering than any other major. Out of the 100 richest people in the world who graduated, 22 of those billionaires received engineering degrees, 16 received business degrees, and 11 received finance degrees. This is to all my engineering colleagues who felt discouraged by that comment.

It always enraged me when people would go into the board room and lie. Susan obviously did contribute and bring up the prices, the bloke on the right had her quoted saying it first, and yet both those guys are saying that it never happened and Jim brought it up first. There is SO much lying in this show and if anyone actually looked back at the footage that the audience had just seen, they would be able to see that they were lying.

Jim is so obviously just a giant misogynist, calling Susan meek and a mouse when she is standing up for herself, she’s just calm, polite and gentle so they view her as being incapable. Jim especially has such a sense of self importance that he’s targeting the quiet woman because he thinks she’s easier to steam roller and place the blame on. Lord Sugar even says she needs to stop blaming it on her age because no one used to treat him like that, but the difference is that he is s white man, it feels to me that there is a lot of bias controlling Jim’s opinions here, rather than fact. He says she lacks passion and enthusiasm but you can clearly see that she has it, Jim is just disregarding everything she says. His targets here are clearly all personal.

Alan Sugar's point about engineer's not being good at business is absolute bollocks, business is full of engineers. And they're ones who tend to be good at long term business with a sound product and R&D rather than the Sugar wheeler deeler thing that only worked for him because he got lucky on Amstrad in the 80's when it was a brand new industry. Alan Sugar says he has never met an engineer who can turn his hands to business. Elon Musk the billionair is a engineer and physicist and Dyson, who invented the Dyson carpet cleaner, is an engineer, is a billionair now. And their are many other very rich engineers in the Royal Society. Frank Whittle invented the Jet engine. Do not know if he became rich. Admiral Henry Jackson invented radio communication between ships in WW1 and Commercialised it, though Marconi i think. he became rich. Lots of engineers are brilliant industralists. My great grandfather was as well

@@bone9jdjkayeI own a successful business myself and this came up in my recommendations list. In some levels I agree with you, it's a TV show if they removed the drama it would be boring.Yet if a manager of mine was being an unprofessional, arrogant and supposedly blamelessly sweet innocent, (butter wouldn't melt ) prat like this I'd give them the boot and a sour reference. (It makes me so angry when people throw people under the bus for their own mistakes. It's a playground tactic. He/she did it first, blah, blah, blah.) Alan sugar is a saint in my opinion. It's the wrong message it's very unprofessional and it should be taught in schools instead of praised as being ''passionate'' (You can be passionate and trustworthy.) It's deceitful and selfish. (They are only doing it for the £25k not because of the work or passion of doing it), every scrap of footage is reviewed and apparently the candidates have forgotten that they are being recorded and the culprit is on footage. It's embarrassing. I honestly believe that if one of them owned up to their actions like a responsible young adult it would have shown a fashionable amount of maturity and awareness of oneself and their affects to a successful business venture. I failed lots of times before i got it right. The truth hurts and we are all human that makes mistakes.Tim made lots of mistakes and as the series goes on he starts to take on his own responsibilities. Alan sugar, you can tell takes it easy on him as the show goes on.He's a smart kid, they all are. You can't improve if your constantly in denial although I suppose you are correct keeping self absorbed people on the show boosts the entertainment aspect and I know they are kids but I was once a kid myself and at that age I knew how to treat people with respect and take the slap on the wrist when it was my fault. Have a great day. Xxx

@@sandramcnamara9057 firstly, I thank you for taking your time to write a professional reply which got your point across in a civil way. I agree they are all doing it for the £250k, and the show has become less and less business like. The tasks are not really that based on real business, as real business is long term gains rather than quick hustling with a rich guy setting you up with clients. At the end of the day the BBC chooses who gets fired out of the three bought back in, lord sugar never makes the decision himself, he just comes up with the justification for the person being fired. At the end of the day, nothing they do will affect their outcome. I do enjoy watching the show for the comedic moments and the occasional brilliant people who I like to keep my eyes on, however it has become less and less about the business. Hope you have a great day as well, thanks :)
