saurabh mhatre ; no, it was idiotic of Touker to think he can just slap his own name on a similar product and think it’s equivalent. Being a successful businessman doesn’t mean his name will give a health product credibility. Y’all act like this is Shark Tank US. Sorry but these people’s names aren’t even as well known as, say, Mark Cuban or Lori Grenier. Daymond is Touker’s equivalent and he wouldn’t say some mess like that. So yeah at the end of the day, he question was valid. “Who is Touker and why would I buy his smoothie?” The health product that was formulated by hand by a doctor has more credibility than a rich businessman who decided on a whim to market his daily breakfast to the masses.

I disagree, a doctor will certainly be qualified to "prescribe" the correct quantities of nutrients that a normal, otherwise healthy person, needs from their food. Specialists might be needed in medical conditions where the quantities required change. But my main reason for commenting is that 'dietician' is a protected term. You need to be qualified to call yourself that, but not so with 'nutritionist'. Anyone can call themselves that, and if they do what they're saying is "I have no qualifications in this field but I think I know best, and I'm prepared to mislead you about my level of expertise".

My wifes best friend is a GP, believe me when I say this, they lack common sense in every other field, maybe because they spend all their lives studying medicine and long hours working that they miss out on real world stuff. the DATE branding is terrible, the product doesn't contain dates, people would hate dates wont touch it. People who like dates will feel cheated. The nuts is a silly idea and by adding nuts to your product you narrow your target market even further because so many people have nut allergies (he's a doctor he should know), additionally not everyone wants to eat nuts with a shake. Dr Asif should stay away from business. Work your field, work up a good nest egg and pension, buy rental property for investment and keep buying more and more rental properties so you can retire like an aristocrat and have 10-20K coming in every month.

I get what you mean about the nature of the job leading to less ‘real-world’ experience but it’s a bit much to generalise a whole profession. A&E Consultants often have to think on their feet and make creative solutions not by the book in urgent situations and arguably have more common sense than the average person to get by in their jobs. I get your point I just think saying all doctors lack common sense is a bit inaccurate.
@TheRealUnconnected5 жыл бұрын
@@crushy3 Not really. Do they negotiate and make deals with people? Do they research markets and then create brands using creative expertise? Do they build reliable forecasts, do accounting and understand business law? No, they see someone from a car accident and follow an established proceedure for dealing with the injuries identified. The TV show HOUSE is not an accurate representation of Doctors, most situations are by the book especially at his young age.
@run_frictionless5 жыл бұрын
Dr Asif, like so many entrepreneurs from a technical profession, believe, that if you have good technical skills you will make a great business person. The two, unfortunately, are mutually exclusive. Having the skill to craft the product is one perhaps in his reach. But he will still need to learn to study customer behaviour, find shared beliefs and design an experience that's different from other smoothies, but still relevant to the customer. He is likely to fail in his first few businesses before he learns enough about business to survive until the third year.

I can totally relate to this doctor. We spend years of our lives having to instantly defend our clinical decisions. The more instant you respond the greater the chances of winning it in a ward round. And I think taking those scientific skills into this market requires a whole new set of skills. And I think the good doctor needs to go to school for this.

Overcomplicated? I actually liked the idea of having nuts and a smoothie together in one
@run_frictionless5 жыл бұрын
The two in one could work, but he'd need to revisit the packaging. As it stands, the placement of the nuts beside the smoothy adds rather than removing friction from the buying experience.
@zoidburg29755 жыл бұрын
Sorry but they are two completely different products. People who go for a ‘healthy’ smoothie often won’t want calorie loaded nuts and even if they did, they wouldn’t want them every morning! You like nuts you buy a big bag and put them in your desk drawer, they don’t go off for a veery long time...

Peters right there’s no way his smoothie with a shelf life of 3 days will make it
@Nocturnalux5 жыл бұрын
I doubt it'd work but I suspect his best bet would be to focus it all on the health angle and target health stores where items are often considerably more expensive and where the short shelf life may even work to his advantage (assuming he got the distribution right, which is a whole different matter) as he could use it to show to 'natural' the smoothie is. The regular consumer is not likely to care enough but the very health conscious buyer might. Then again, odds are those stores would not even place him on the shelf. But that should have been his first step.
