Holy cow this was amazing. Jacob was truly special. What a loss to the reggae community.

My favourite reggae song. I bought the single when it first came out and must have driven my poor parents to distraction by playing it over and over again. Now, fifty odd years later I still love it.

Why are people fighting about who is better, Marley or Miller? They were BOTH great. Jacob's voice was as good as anyone's in the reggae genre and Marley was as spiritual a man as any human being graced with the ability to sing and play an instrument. His music will live forever. God bless them both!

Some years back I happened to get on the same flight from Orlando to Dallas with Toots and the Maytals and as luck would have it, keyboardist Charles Farquharson (along with Touter Harvey an original Inner Circle member) sat in the seat next to me and we talked about reggae history the whole way. The reason I bring up the story is because I asked Charles who were the roots musicians who made the biggest impression on him? He named a few people and told why but at the top of his list, in a class of his own, it was Jacob Miller. Charles' eyes welled up with tears when he spoke of Jacob and his big heart. I'm glad to see this performance because I can feel what C was referring to. Jacob overflowed with joy and irie spirit.

"In March 1980, Jacob Miller went with Bob Marley and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell to Brazil, to celebrate Island opening new offices in South America. Not long after returning to Jamaica Sunday, 23 March 1980, Miller and one of his sons died in a car accident on Hope Road in Kingston, Jamaica. Miller and Inner Circle had been preparing for an American tour with Bob Marley and the Wailers, and the next album, Mixed Up Moods, had been recorded before his death." RIP, Jacob. Your legacy will shine in eternity.

I remember when that news broke. It was freak accident. Really shocking.
@writtenbyraymildo8557 Жыл бұрын
In fact it were his 2 daughters that survived the crash. He passed tragically after that accident. And was very shocking. Bob wept when he heared the news, because 2 days earlier he was with him, Junior Marvin, Chris Blackwell and his girlfriend in St. Maarten for a stop after the trip in Brazil. Jacob had suffered from a jetlag 😭

Jacob Killa Miller, a large man with so much energy, charisma, great voicing style who always looked like he was enjoying himself on stage and how long was this song - Real Rasta talent. Bob Marley was a big fan of his, sadly died after a car accident in Jamaica, no ambulance arrived, so two policemen picked him up, placed him in their car, went for some drinks in a local bar with Jacob lying seriously injured in the back and then raced him to hospital but too late. Bob died within a year of Jacob. Sad start for Jamaicans in the early 1980's.
