I just want to say thank you for posting this and for making this blog in general. I am a professional musician determined to be a good father and it's really nice to see that I am not the only one with a day to day schedule that is pretty much identical to this (aside from the surfing lol) and that someone else deals with the same frustrations regarding practice as I do. Your kids are adorable and you have a beautiful family, thanks again.
Thank you for your encouraging videos. I don’t have any tattoos but that one is the first I could consider.

Bob: "It's not like I'm pushing it aside to sit on the couch and play videogames..." Me, dropping the ps4 controller: "Ok, ok, I'm practicing!"

This morning my wife said Trevor why ran't you going to tennis in the morning anymore.. And i told her i need to practice Sax in the morning because it will not happen later on .... Like you said Bob there is always something else to do... We all know that time isn't going to wait for us. So PRACTICE FIRST sounds good to me. Thanks Bob for all of your Videos

Muito bom ver que mesmo um músico em uma outra estrutura, tem soluções e problemas parecidos com os nossos

There is an architect, John Storyk, who designs recording studios and live rooms (He actually designed Electric Lady Studios in NYC). I attended a lecture of his, and he said that parallel walls aren't necessarily a bad thing as long as the room is rectangular - Square isn't quite as desirable. You can also strategically place studio foam to eliminate some of the phasing and strange reflections.

So great that you love Radiohead, you should do another version of their songs, Life in a Glasshouse would be amazing. Keep up the great videos man.

Speaking of live sound, how well do you hear yourself/other instruments at a Snarky Puppy gig?

do you believe that sound searching (looking for that sax sound you want) can limit or even diture people when they practice? I've been going through a struggle trying to find my sound and a lot of people tell me that its good but I view it as being still high school it but what are your thoughts on this ? sound up and coming saxophonist not stress out about sound searching or should they be conscious of what they're doing and zero in on how to improve it ?

Hey Bob, what tune is it that you're playing around 2:27? Those lines are killin' and I was wondering is the audio available somewhere as I'd love to transcribe it? On a side note, I feel the same frustration or "jazz guilt" every day, when I put off practise to do other things! I guess it's a cross musicians gotta bare.

I was awe-struck by those lines as well - turns out it's 'Whitecap' by Snarky Puppy, as MusicNic said.

Question - I read somewhere the keeping your fingers on the keys is pertinent to great saxophone technique. What do you think?

I've noticed you always practice standing up - do you consider that better than practicing sitting down? Or is it just out of habit?
