I agree. This movie had the perfect opportunity to re-introduce Megatron as a wounded general, reminiscing about how he failed at his own rebellion. Most of his allies have been destroyed, and he died once. Now desperate to command again, he tries to command the animals, exclaiming "All... hail... Megatron..." And they blew it. And I'm not just talking about explosions.

And this is why the Transformers prime and Rescue bots cartoons are much better. In both those shows, the humans treat their robots as actual friends and they care about them. Even a much more arrogant character in Rescue bots actually cares about his partner even though he doesn't always show it. Yeah, he's the type of person to not really show his vulnerable side and that's the same for his partner. Well, the bots in prime do try to keep their humans out of danger as much as possible because they are still human, they will still let go on missions because they have proven themselves at times.

Not to mention, it does make the humans look bad. Really bad. Like, I know it's kind of OOC for Prime to say "Humans, have you learned your lesson?" and leave them to die. But, considering the levels of human kindness we see in these films, we kind of deserve enslavement and death. Filmmakers need to learn that making all humans jerks, kind of makes it seem like we're just not worth it.

That whole thing about Sam changing girlfriends was similar to what happened in Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor movies. Since the actor who played Sherman's love interest wasn't able to return for the sequel, she was replaced with some other character, completely destroying the romantic aspect of the first movie, which was a huge driving force in its plot. At one point in the sequel, Sherman even says that he and the first love interest were "just friends". Crazy.

Yeah, Sentinel’s death was totally in cold blood after he killed Ironhide, lied and betrayed the Autobots which in turned caused the single worst thing to ever happen to humanity, triggered the chigaco invasion which killed millions of people and was willing to enslave millions more, had no problem with attempting to kill Optimus, his own son-like figure and went against all that a Prime stood for. All for his own blinded end goals of bringing back Cybertron when he should’ve moved on. Yeah, Optimus killing him with no reason to trust him anymore and no reason to believe he wouldn’t betray them again was absolutely in cold blood.

Like yeah this plan have been in the works for 50 years that's why the Decepticons are going after the Allspark in the first film and Engergon in the 2nd film, when they could just have planned to use the Allspark to turn every crane, excavator, dump truck and bulldozer in the world into Constructicon's and beam them to Cybertron with their own spacebridge

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter Parker wants to be an Avenger, but realized that his life is fine the way it is. We actually rooted for him because he was likeable. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, he changed his mind and realized that he wanted his normal life back. The difference here is that those movies were good and gave us a reason to care about Peter. Unlike Sam, who just whines the whole time.

Fun fact: Dino was originally going to be named Mirage, the autobot who can cloak himself and transformed into a blue and white f1 racer. He's even called Mirage in the Dark of the Moon videogames. Why Dino was a better name is beyond me! But from what i've learned, the name change was because of certain rights with Ferrari.

32:54 Another interesting thing about the novel, it explains where Optimus was at the time. Before Sentinel's betrayal, we get a chapter in which Optimus meets with President Obama. If this is anything like the rest of the novel, the writers intended to have it in there, but then Bay changed it. We can tell because the original ending was supposed to have Optimus and Megatron defeat Sentinel, Optimus offer the role of an Autobot to Megatron, and Megatron refusing to live in self exile. Unfortunately, that wasn't cool enough for Bay. Fortunately for the writers though, they did eventually get that ending, for the end of Prime.

Bay didn't want the novel to have any affiliation with the movie. The only things dropped from the film were: •The Twins being cut from the film in post-prodiction •Shockwave being the original main villain in Dark of the Moon • A plot point that was an anti-Autobot sentiment among the human populace. Graffiti with a crossed out Autobot logo with the words "go home" below it showed up in several set photos. In the movie, Congress instantly passes a law exiling the Autobots from Earth following Sentinel Prime's ultimatum. •Silverbolt who was going to appear in Dark of the Moon and be voiced by the late James Avery

I swear this franchise gets worse with each installment, more asinine, more insane, less coherent, constantly retconning itself and having inconsistent continuity with itself while contradicting and taking a crap all over the franchise... I'm starting to wonder if Michael Bay is deliberately trying to destroy the Transformers franchise. Can't wait until next Christmas to see the Age of Extinction review and how much worse it can get, since I feel that it's THAT installment that violates the franchise the most, especially with the Dinobots and completely retconning the origin of the Transformers that was given in the first film.

Imagine: the guard says "How's your car now?", then they hear Bumblebee coming, Sam yells in reply "I don't *have* a car!", Bumblebee comes in, gets the guards to back off like he does, and Sam, calming down and standing up like a boss, looks at his Autobot friend and says "I have a Transformer."

Talking about that highway chase and Bay using a reused shot from The Island. The reason for this was because there was a horrible on-set accident. So Gabriella Cedillo, one of the extras, ended up having a permanent brain injury because a cable snapped on detention and smashed into the Toyota she was driving. The thing was, she wasn't a stunt person, the extras were paid 25 dollars a day to drive their regular cars in this highway sequence and weren't informed about the risks. But as a result of this, she was given an 18 million dollar settlement, which is good, obviously, but you also have a permanent brain injury which is not good at all.

Characters that had lot's and LOT'S of potential but was completely wasted, First movie: Bonecrusher, Jazz, Brawl. Second movie: Scavenger, Grindor, Sideways, Sidewipe and all the Constucticons. Third movie: Soundwave, Shockwave and the Driller. Fourth movie: Stinger and Galvatron. And they bring a huge cool amount of cast and some of them would say NOTHING, have no form of personality, get killed off and pretty much do nothing. I'm glad Breakaway and Silverbolt didn't made it to the movie(they would just do nothing or get killed off).

Now that I think about it. Sam and Bumblebee’s relationship is really toxic and abusive. Sam calls Bumblebee his property, berates him even when helping him and was ready to abandon him for a new car when he goes to college. Not to mention how he’s treated his girlfriends. Clearly we need a movie where the autobots save Bumblebee from this torment and make sure Sam won’t hurt anyone else.

Well Steven Spielberg comes from Jewish heritage. He also did suffer from anti-Semitic prejudice and bullying in high school that go apparently got very violent. With that knowledge it's pretty understandable why Megan Fox's statement had struck a nerve with him. As for why it didn't with Bay, well it may or may not have do with the fact that he wasn't really born from Jewish heritage but rather adopted and raised in it. Then again I'm only making assumptions based on little information and can be wrong.

When Sam is complaining to his boss about wanting to feel like he matters, wanting a job that matters, all I could think about was "nooo, you mean you want OTHER people to think that you matter." Otherwise, saving the world twice would have been enough, because he would have known his own importance and been satisfied, IF that was what he wanted, but noooo, he demands recognition and praise for his deeds, and allows not having that recognition to affect things like his performance/attitude at work, amongst other things

Skids and Mudflap were supposed to be in this movie and were even around during filming but were cut out because of negative feedback from fans and audiences, if they were in the film they would've gotten killed by Sentinel Prime alongside Ironhide

For the record, this is maybe the one Bayformers I hate with a passion of a thousand burning Cybertrons. The first one hurt the most, yes, and the second one was an unwritten jumbled mess, but the third really made me actively hate the writers and director for turning Optimus into a demented brutal killing machine and it almost made me think this was a mirror universe actually where the Autobots were evil. Since, well, they destroyed their home planet to protect the human race, who constantly abuses and hunts and exploits them. Optimus also mercilessly guns down his old mentor who was begging for mercy, and executes Megatron brutally after the latter has just saved his life.

Them exchanging Mikaela with Carly sums up perfectly just how little the people behind these movies care about the characters. Though Bay is hardly the only moviemaker in Hollywood guilty of this. I really don't get why if an actor who has played a prominent character in a cinematic franchise suddenly becomes unavailable for whatever reason (or gets fired like Megan Fox), why they would just write out that character in the sequel and replace them with a new character to fill their role (or worse, pretend like they never even existed)? If you gotta bring in a new actor to play an established character then just freaking do it, the audience can suspend their disbelief and buy that this new person is the same character as long as this keeps the story's integrity intact. But given how Wheelie and Brains make comments about how "mean" Mikaela was (even though she obviously wasn't) makes it likely that there was some spite involved when they hastily rewrote the script to fit in Carly. But then again, if they wanted to take a jab at Megan Fox, they could have still just gotten a new actress to play Mikaela and have Wheelie make a comment like "Is it just me, or has that fine-lookin' organic gotten even hotter since I first met her? Lookin' back, she was a mousy skank then" and have Brains reply with "Yup, she's definitely filled up nicely".

NOW they want to make girls e an empowering icons after four movies of casting barely legal models whose sole purpose is to be on the camera to look sexy with faux action girls moments to come off badass when really they are not. Well at least they didn’t try to sexualized the little girl in The Last Knight to continue the trend of faux action girl main characters, cause that would draw a lot of red flags for an already unappealing film.

Like Bobsheaux said in the review of that movie; why not have the Pretender be an Autobot just trying to learn more in human education? I love how when they reunite for the first time in years, Sam straight-up tells Bumblebee “How dare you go protect the planet and let me drive this ugly jalopy! Some friend you are!” Keep in mind that this is the third movie in this trilogy and we saw Sam, superficially, grow up from high school student to college student to independent (relatively speaking) adult, and yet this film has him at his whiniest and most immature. He actually came across as a bit more mature and sensible in the second film (yes, really), given how he was trying to distance himself from the Autobots and lead a normal life, which is something a real person would probably do if faced with the alternative of getting entangled in a war between two factions of giant, alien killer robots, but now he’s completely consumed by his own inadequacy and adherence to toxic masculinity (the latter is probably the closest thing Bayformers has to an overarching theme and message). Hell, I’d think most guys in Sam’s place, no matter how chauvinistic they are, would probably swallow their macho ego and enjoy freeloading of their hot, financially well-off supermodel girlfriend who is head-over-heels in love with them and just lie to their buds that they are the breadwinner at home, but not Sam, he needs to “feel important”, even though that clashes with his attitude from the previous film. Unless the implication is that Sam’s just such a misogynist, that he’s cool leading a normal, unremarkable life as long as he has a hot girlfriend that “knows her place”, given how he was attending some Ivy-league college in the second film while Mikaela was just a lowly mechanic, but once the tables were turned with Carly, Sam was ready to disregard the many, many, MANY benefits of their relationship just because he felt emasculated. I’d say that with a few tweaks (like nixing Sam’s happy ending in TDOTM), his story in this trilogy could be reworked into being a poignant tragedy and cautionary tale about all the harmful consequences of toxic masculinity.

I've actually started writing a story that makes some cues from the movie trilogy. So far, the Autobots in my story are Optimus, Jetfire, Strongarm, Ratchet, Whirl, Hound, Warpath, Blaster (and Steeljaw), and the Torchbearers (Pyra Magna, Stormclash, Skyburst, Dust Up, Jumpstream, and Rust Dust). Other Autobots I may bring in are Ironhide, Chromia, Grimlock, Swoop, Slug, Impactor, Topspin, Roadbuster, Twintwist (who would all combine with Whirl to form Ruination) and Metroplex.

Actually... Dino wasn't Bay's idea. It was the Car Company's. But none the less Bay still is partly to blame since he did comply to their request despite the plans for Dino to be named Mirage. As for Que, yeah now that one was his idea. Apparently he wanted the name to be a reference/homage to Q from the James Bond movies.
