Goddammit I envy those who were blessed to be there, I haven't heard or seen a Draken or Viggen since I was a kid in the 70's.

As a Swede it's amazing to still see both of them still flying and thr shape is something else. The Viggen was also called a flying Christmas tree due to the shape. The Draken had the Ghost battalion at F10 in the south of Sweden with a ghost 👻 emblem on either the body or the wings. Koenigsegg is using this Ghost emblem on all their cars as Koenigsegg has its HQ and factory at what used to be the old military airfield where Draken and Viggen were based.

I love this great echoing sound! Thanks Bob!❤🎉😊

The engine sound from the Viggen is cracking. During the 1990's when car alarms started to become a common thing, it was not uncommon for a Viggen to set of the alarm in every car in the parking lot during airshows.

Especially when it took of flying totally straight up vertically with afterburners on. The ground far away just shook!

Awesome! Sound and looks amazing! as a Swede I wished I was there to experience it! even though I'm 50, the Viggen is older then me... and the Draken (which I saw often when growing up ofc is so iconic! and JAS-39 is it's evolutionary ancestor ofc...

Viggen was known as the Hot Rod of the skies. The engine was absolutely massive and more than what the plane needed. Still very agile and extremely capable. A close friend of mine flew them as a captain and lter Major in the Swedish Airforce and he used to tell stories about outperforming US fighters making them angry. He also had some really close encounters with Sovjet/Russian fighters

Sounds from the cold war in Sweden the scream from draken and the mighty roar from viggen.
@da206hbe4 ай бұрын
The special thing about Viggen was the short landing/take off capabilities. 350-500 m could be enough. This was capable through reversing the jet beam. This was a requirement to be able to land on public roads. To my knowledge only Saab Viggen and Panavia Tornado had reversing jets on fighter jets?
@VinDieselS704 ай бұрын
The Viggen was also the only fighter jet at that time to use a pair of boggie landing gear due to the weight of the plane.

@@VinDieselS70 Last year I checked one out up-close at the former F13 flotilla at Bråvalla, Norrköping/Sweden. They have one standing in a hangar with a very nice exhibition about F13, the planes and everything around it. They have a club for former fighter pilots and F13 personnel. The plane really is massive! Talked to some very nice pilots about some of the technology. Fun!

Sadly, we never get to see any of the SABBs, in this part of N. America.

Excellent camera work keeping up with the jets. There's really next to no point having a so called airshow where the planes display so far away... almost!

They kept the veteran fighters at Såtenäs earlier, but they were moved to Malmslätt in Linköping one or two years ago. I work at Saab and they gave us a little airshow to celebrate the occasion. Draken and Viggen are super cool, of course, but Tunnan is a real gem.
