Thank you for making this tutorial. Are you sure it is not 41 chains total. (Multiples of 4+1)? The only way it works for me is if I do that. If I have 40 chains then I only have 1 stitch left at the end.

Hmm maybe it is ! What ever works for you, go for it :)
@ritaconnolly93992 жыл бұрын
Stevia you’re correct. Just started this bag today and even charted the pattern twice to be sure but you do need 41 in order to get a ch1/skip one space before doing that last hdc .

hi Clare I made one of these bags and it turned out lovely I'm now on my second bag trying to do the body part in front posts but it still looks flat pls help
@CrochetwithClare7 жыл бұрын
Hello Mel, if you are changing the pattern then it may behave differently when you crochet, hope that made sense. If you have increased the base of the bag it always takes a few rows maybe up to 4 or 5 rounds to start to for the bag sides. hope this helps Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback and happy crochet to you Mel
@MelDoonerDooner7 жыл бұрын
hi Clare thanks for getting back to me no I didn't do anymore increase on the base when you stopped increasing I stopped maybe it's because of the front posts they could be too heavy. I'm on row 12 and to me it still doesn't look right. I might have to rip it all back to the base grrrrrrrrr lol

I'm enjoying watching your videos; you are a good teacher, and I've shared your videos with some friends. I teach crochet, too and I always recommend Susan Bates hooks to my students. Here's why. In this video, I notice you having trouble getting your hook out of your last loop on your stitch almost every single time. I would like to suggest that this is not YOU, it is the style of hook you're using. Susan Bates hooks are wider at the head and also the hook is in line with the shank. This allows for smooth exit from you stitches. You will still encounter the problem, but you will notice a significant improvement in the ease with which you are able to get out of your stitches. Please Note that I am in no way compensated by Susan Bates for this recommendation. I just think maybe people are not aware of this problem, or think it is their fault, or don't know there is a difference in the style of hooks that actually alleviates this situation. Or maybe you've tried Susan Bates hooks and don't like them. At any rate, I thought you might be interested to know. Hope that helps. And as you say, Happy Crochet!

Hello Kris, thank you for the heads up :) Its also the weird sitting position I have when filming :) If I am relaxing on the couch I have no problems Great information you have provided about the crochet hooks, we all have our favorites and its great they make so many different styles - Just like goldilocks and the three bears our hooks have to be *jusssst right* Happy crochet to you too :)

WHAT DID I DO? I just finished this tote and I LOVE IT! I used RED HEART super saver yarn. The color is called BLACKLIGHT, it's beautiful! Just one problem , and I don't know why! About 8 rounds into the tote there is a line that goes diagonally up the bag with each round. It goes all the way to the top. Any suggestion as to what I did wrong? I LOVE this pattern, but I need to know what I did. Any help would be appreciated! THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! GRANDMA 11

Has anybody used a different stitch for the handles and done one wide instead of 2
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
hello, you can use whichever stitches you like as long as they don't stretch much. You can use just one handle but you have the potential of the brim of the bag stretching out or not laying properly with just one handle as well as weight distribution is better with two handles versus one.
