I made my mum and myself a super chunky dark grey winter hat and used black faux fur to make Pom poms to go on top, I got mine from EBay UK it was £6.99 for a fat quart of luxury black faux fur, and well worth it as no animals had to be killed for it, as an animal lover I love that I can have a furry Pom Pom and wear it guilt free knowing it fake xxx

It is so wonderful to see you Claire. I have made so many of your patterns and you basically taught me how to crochet!!! I too make pom poms and I buy from Joanne Fabrics a big box store. When I brought the fake fur up to the cutting counter the salesperson was cutting through the fur and I showed her how to cut it right. She didn't quite understand how that works and I have a feeling she is back to cutting it the wrong way. I was surprised they didn't know how to do it. Anyways you are a great teacher!! They need you there. I am so looking forward to following you again.

Thank you for this tutorial. I've been unable to find pre-made poms in the size I want, so now I can make them myself. I love all colors, like to match the poms to the color of hat I'm making. I' understand that fake fur is sold at Joann Fabrics, as well as possibly Hobby Lobby and Michaels. Seems to me this is a product best not purchased online, as it's hard to tell from photos as to how long the fibers truly are.

I'm also a sewist but never once thought about making my own pom poms! Duh! A tip if you're using a light coloured fur, instead of thread you can use dental floss! Much stronger than thread (especially the plastic kind) and still able to be threaded through a needle. Also, I can't hear "wombat" without thinking, "Wombat stew, wombat stew, gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy, wombat stew!" 😂

Clare, it's so nice to hear from you. Are you feeling better? Your voice sounds good. Thank you so much for the really informative tutorial. I'll have to look for the fabric, now I know for what to look. I have 2 questions off topic. Was that a combat at the end there? That's the 1st I've ever seen, other than in an encyclopedia. And, was that a slate table on which you did your craft? I have one we use as a dining room/kitchen table. I've never seen another. I love mine, but it sure is heavy.
@CrochetwithClare5 жыл бұрын
G'day Deborah Heindel thank you so much ! Yes I a, feeling much better. Yes that is a wombat outside our front door, they are very timid and will run if you get too close to them No my table is timber, might not even be solid wood, not sure. Your slate table sounds beautiful Happy crochet ❤

Isn't the wombat to cute. A bit if a mini bear with a pug puppy face. lolol Are they mean or sweet or? Claire, how many inches across was the round circle you started with? I know we can do any size but is a good reference point. Dk you sew rubberband/ hair pony/ hair ties to te l the back so you can attach n detach from hat for washing? It's a great lil video by the way🤗 🧶🎄🧶🎄 Merry Christmas Haha you just said 3 to 4 inches ohh my I was listening so hard I missed it. 🤦♀️

How do you put a band on it to make it removable from the hat to wash the hat?
@CrochetwithClare4 жыл бұрын
you would just sew your small band or elastic to the inside of the edges right before you finished sewing it up completely.
