@@curte7739 There was 2 cars built for the show and they were both built from GTO's, the first one originally had a functional supercharger on it so it could pop wheelies, but it was too hard to control so a stock tri power engine was put in it with the blower sitting on the top just for looks. The 2nd car was built for promotional touring for the show and was actually built from the GTO that Major Healy drives in the first season of I Dream of Genie.

George Barris was nothing short of a mastermind when it came to creating so many iconic cars, especially when he was only given a handful of weeks to do it. When you can take three Model T's and a hearse and build such a bad ass car as the Munster Coach, you're a true mechanical and artistic genius. l wish they would've included 'Dragula' but it only appeared in a few episodes.

I think we could all come up with other memorable TV vehicles, like the Corvettes from Route 66, Mannix's convertibles, the Green Acres Lincoln, Columbo's Peugeot, Magnum's Ferrari, Nash Bridges 'Cuda, etc. Seems today's shows seldom have characters defined in part by their cars, and little airtime devoted to vehicles, aside from the new Magnum, P.I. Probably this is because America's love affair with cars is long over as demonstrated by the appliance type vehicles now in demand.

There were a numerous amount of memorable TV vehicles that qualify as iconic & would have fit right into this video presentation. A vast amount of vehicles we enjoyed watching on many popular prime time TV shows in the 60's, 70's, & the 80's. This would account for, perhaps, a hundred vehicles, more or less? My 3rd favorite was Chin Ho's 1967 Ford Galaxy 500 XL 2 door hardtop on Hawaii 5-0. 2nd favorite was Starsky's car. 1st favorite was Fred G. Sanford's 52' Ford Truck. Gilligan's pedal car gets a VERY honorable mention. Also wonder where it's at today? Almost forgot to mention Jedidiah's 1966 Ford Mustang hardtop, driven by Mark Shera, on Barnaby Jones, a Quinn Martin production.

2 things about KITT that I read about in the past: The car was supposed to be a 290 Nissan (or Datsun, same thing). Glen Larson had a neighbor that worked for GM. He showed Larson some pics of the upcoming 1982 Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am. Larson scrapped the 290 and instead went with the Trans Am. When the show premiered in '82, there were quite a few references to KITT being a Pontiac Trans Am. Pontiac dealerships had people flocking into the showroom, hoping to get a car that looked like KITT. Starting in '83, KITT was no longer referred to as a Trans Am, but rather a black t-top.

All seem to be great except for The Beverly hillbillies truck hasn't been at the school of the Ozark's for years. I have relatives that live nearby for years as a kid would make the long trip to visit. I can remember that truck being there. Back remember taking my kids they were very young and the truck is still there. Then don't remember it's been five or ten years and it was no longer there it was taken away by somebody I think the southwest of California is where it ends up, school had gone with a more upscale approach still if he fit in very narrow parameters they would bring you in. Now to Truckee from brought back recently that I don't know. Great work on this episode

Holy flashback, Batman!! I missed this a year ago but love this. About 15 years ago i was sent 2 framed photos of The Munster Coach.' A friend of family worked at a Ca header shop and they were asked to work on it. One photo was one of the car in the parking lot, another was a 'portrait' signed by George himself. Both are hanging together now. Mentioned before i had a '69 Charger that got hit while parked in '80. I took the 'total' and let it go (i know,,,,). I'd raised alot of hell by then. No tickets ;) Family saw it go down the freeway on a flatbed truck. He didn't think it was going to a junk yard. Prob became a Dukes 'jumper'. They'd piece cars together. Nice Work, B Bros!!

@@derekcrymble9085 Last I heard at least one on screen Dukes of Hazzard Charger has been located in a junk yard and is currently being restored. But the best junk yard discovery story is the "stunt" 1968 Mustang from the movie Bullitt that was thought to have been put through a car crusher after the movie was done being filmed, it was accidentally discovered in a scrap yard in Mexico. Two 68's were used to film the movie, one was the "beauty" car used for filming the scenes with Steve McQueen driving and the stunt car used to film most of the chase scenes that was banged up, among other stunts it was used to film the scene where he side swipes the Charger driven by the bad guys and sends them into the gas station at high speed, the stunt was done by cutting holes in the passenger door and fabricating mounts that went from where the assembly was mounted after the passenger seat was removed and through the holes in the door and then through holes in the driver's door of the Charger and bolted to a mount in it, the set up enabled the driver of the Mustang to actually be driving both cars with dummies in the Charger, there was a release lever in the Mustang where the fixture was bolted down where the passenger seat had been that when he pulled it would release the Charger and then the Mustang could veer to the left after he got them aimed at the gas pumps, and as anyone who's seen the movie can tell the driver missed his mark and the Charger didn't hit the pumps, but it was nothing some clever editing didn't take care of in post production. Like any Hollywood car that's been highly damaged or modified the movie company didn't want it sold off for fear of being sued should the new owner be involved in an accident, so it was sold to a junk yard in LA that the movie company had sent cars like that to so they can be crushed. The beauty car was known to be owned for years by a family who wished to remain anonymous for privacy reasons and the stunt cars story was thought to have ended in that junk yards crusher after principal photography. Several years back a Mustang collector was in Mexico looking through scrap yards and found a 68 Fastback that he intended to use as a donor car for an Eleanor build (Gone in 60 Seconds type Eleanor), the car had the passenger door missing along with the motor and drive train, upon getting it shipped back to the States he decided it'd be a good idea to have the VIN checked out by the guy who's considered to be the #1 authority on Mustangs in the world before cutting into it, after tracing the history of the VIN he contacted the owner and informed him that he had the long thought to be crushed stunt Mustang from Bullitt, needless to say the guy immediately changed his plans from an Eleanor build to a complete restoration. What had apparently happened was before the junk yard in LA put the car through their crusher a Mexican scrap dealer went through the junk yard buying several cars he thought he could turn a profit on by parting them out, the Mustang was one of them and had gotten shipped to Mexico where after having the engine and drive train removed and sold it just sat in the desert down there for about 45 years. Talk about luck.
