I agree the battery is a no go. Too expensive. I keep looking at these and appreciate the honest reviews. So far, a good cooler with about 10# of dry ice is a lot cheaper and will get more bang for the buck.

Yeah if you're not a full-time rver or van lifer and you have access to dry ice for sure a regular cooler.

How well does it hold temperature without the compressor on? I was hoping to use it as a road trip cooler, and wanted to know if I had to keep it powered when we left the car or needed to consider a separate power source for it?

Too many variables... It is insulated but it's not a Yeti.. It's designed to cool but doesn't need to be continously "on". Ambient air temp has a big effect.. Direct sunlight too.. How much frozen stuff vs refrigerator contents makes a difference also.. If you have solar I believe this one has an input on it to help with power..
