I have the pt55 and it's the best fridge/freezer I've owned. I travel in an SUV , took out my front seat and put it there. A great thing about this product is it is made taller not wider or longer so it takes up less floor space. It keeps all of my food fresh and the freezer option on either side is perfect. As with most 12v fridge/freezers it does have a temperature flex of about 2 degrees, either side, either mode. Excellent product after 4 months of regular use. Got it for just under $400.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to plug it into the 12v battery so it doesn’t waste power. Turning 12v to 120v to plug a 120v power supply and turn it back into 12v??! Also the fridge has a low voltage cut off so it doesn’t kill the battery. Don’t delete your comment so people can learn from your families mistake.

Great review on the SETPOWER HOBOTECH!!! I purchased the PT55 last August just under $350 with the AC charger and absolutely love my SETPOWER!!! I do a lot of desert dune camping in my trailer and tent camping in baja. No more dealing with ice to keep my drinks cold. Keep food cold and or frozen when needed. I run my SETPOWER off my Bluetti 200L or AC180. Solar panels keep them charged. What a game changer having my SETPOWER and Bluettis to power everything. Thank you for you videos. I've had the PT55 (paid $465) for a year now. It has been heavily used and has bounced around in the back of my truck through some really rough terrain. It works well for the money. I use the freezer every trip. Need my ice cream. - As you said, it really has to work in direct sun. - The temperature readings get wacky now especially if ambient temperature is hot. - The PT55 is tall. Packing it up with other stuff can be a puzzle sometimes. - It is loud. When camping, I actually take it out of the truck and put it in one of those portable changing shelters. You can still hear it (in the woods) from 15ft away. I would say it is a workhorse that has taken a beating. Other than how loud it is, I have no regrets about the fridge...other than it is now $100 cheaper than when I got it.

I have a PT35 and love it. It stays in my SUV and is powered by an EcoFlow River2 Pro. The small side I use for ice while camping/overlanding (pack in a ziplock freezer bag at home before leaving). I usually keep it set to ~16F for ice and have no issues keeping the cubes frozen - in fact, they due stick together at that temp too. I would imagine it uses less power with that temp setting but can't quantify how much.

Finally something to combat the insanity of the higher price competition. When traveling or camping I don’t need all the whistles bells I just need to keep my food safe to eat. I guess a person could keep a blue tooth thermometer inside if you wanted to check the temperature occasionally. Also if you use something like a Peron 500W car charger to keep your power station topped off while moving around you could handle the higher power consumption.thank you for the great review.

I went with a peltier style cooler instead. It doesn't freeze but it gets about 20C less than ambient. You can also just reverse the power and instead of taking heat out of the box it will put it in the box which gets it up to 65C (just under 150F) inside. This is higher than the 140F food safe temp for keeping dood warm. Since I do food delivery on the side I can use it for that to keep everyones fast food nice and hot, and use it as a fridge when doing things like camping. Plus, since no compressor the only sound it makes is a small fan.
@Snerdles6 ай бұрын
@@EfficientRVer I use a portable power station and a PHEV. If I leave the car on it will keep the pack charged for about 48 hours straight before needing to cycle the engine and then the pack itself will keep the cooler running for another 12 hours or so. So far it's worked just fine. Works basically exactly as advertised. If I throw a little 50W solar panel on the battery pack and strategically use the car I could probably stretch that out to 5-7 days and my battery pack can take a 75 watt DC input which could probably run it indefinitely since the cooler will use far less power at night and the pack would charge to full each day. I agree that a compressor cooler is better for colder temps and more consistent cold, but also they make noise and have moving parts that are more likely to fail. They also can't get hot inside for my secondary use, which makes them not a viable choice for what I want it for.

New subscriber here, you answered a question that I was wondering about on the pt35 that I purchased almost a week ago. Oh I don't know but one commentor that had purchased the pt35 said they ran a test (not as thorough and documented as yours) with eco on and off at same conditions and it actually used less with eco turned off because it gets it cooler quicker and turns back off instead of taking longer to cool it back to settings. Anyway I'm very pleased with mine and ordered the setpower insulated cover to hopefully make it more efficient. Thanks for the great informational video and God bless

I bought the 45L version of this fridge last Black Friday (shipped to Canada). I did an indoor test with running off my old GoLabs R300 power station, and I was able to run it for about 20 hrs. Room temp was 22C and I had both sides set to fridge temp, with a few dozen eggs in their cartons in both compartments. I did find the humidity in them to be a bit high for whatever reason. I also ran it on my EcoFlow Delta 2 Max for over 5 days. Forgot to mention, I also have SetPower’s insulated cover on it. I will at some point have it set up in my 4Runner for my next trip (now that I have a roof top tent to stay off the beat and path).

Based on this video and other videos for the PT35 on KZbin, I just ordered a PT35 using your affiliate link (which saved me a little $$). You failed to mention Free Shipping when ordering via your link. We currently have a 17qt AstroAI which we have used for a couple of years and are happy with it, but I wanted something with a larger capacity and dual zones. Note --- We use our 17L AstroAI mostly as a freezer to transport frozen items when on a long trip and use a regular cooler with ice packs as a cooler for drinks on those trips. When we get the PT35 we will be able to eliminate the cooler with ice packs and thus gain more much needed floor space. The PT35 is only about $10 more than what we paid for the AstroAI 17L 2 years ago. The footprint of the PT35 is almost the same as our current 17L but it is approx 6.5" higher, which for us is not a problem. To us floor space is more import. We always pre-cool our freezer and add items to it that are already frozen. When driving we utilize a 120vac outlet that is built into our vehicle and when we are parked overnight and our vehicle is turned off I use a DIY power station to power the unit through the night. Thanks for taking the time to post the video and for including your affiliate link.

The power consumption will drop dramatically if the compartments are filled, especially if filled with containers of liquid. When my vertical freezer is full of meat it seems to almost never run but the more it gets emptied over a couple months the more often it begins to run. I learned to place bottles of water into it as I remove meat to continue the infrequent running.
