All good. Just check metal to metal friction. Check to see if a lubricant is required. Same also for removal, a little up around the top helps a lot on removal also. And yes hammer action of rattle guns tends to bind threads that remain under tension. Nice tool. Use it with a kit of bush/bearing adaptors and will be a versatile piece of kit!

I have one of those knock off generic bushing service kits off fleabay from China. I think it was £50 and so far its done everything i have needed to do. Comes with about 20 different cups and 4 different forcing screws with the bearing built into the nut. I even managed to get a spare M12 forcing screw because i bent the original one.

useful adaptable tool for other bushes too. I got a kit with 4 size forcing screws and big selection of cups, was about £80, mix that with off cuts of steel pipe, sockets and old bearing race and you can mock up a puller for almost anything . That was a steal for £10, the forcing screw the nut and bearing are decent quality and worth weight in gold in a busy all makes auto shop . If this is wrong, I don't want to be right! Great video. I think this may work on my '08 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V? The car isn't worth much but I really enjoy driving it. The only videos I've seen on it involve removing the entire subframe, a propane torch, and a sledgehammer, and using aftermarket bushings. Nissan doesn't sell the bushings, only the subframe, which is insanely expensive just to get rid of some noises. Thanks for the idea!!

Got two quotes by shop to replace 4 ball joints (bolted in not riveted) and 2 upper control arm bushings (2 per arm) on a 86 Toyota 2WD truck of $1400 and $1600. Ridiculous. It was pure book pricing with 2-1/2 hour per ball joint (WTF?). I bought all the parts for ~$115 and a nice Harbor Freight 12 ton press on sale with a 20% discount delivered for $98. Did all the work in my complex black top parking space in the 92 degree heat in just over 6 hours from set-up to clean up. Only took 1-1/2 hours to do all 4 ball joints as I had an OTC puller. The control arm bushings were a pain to get out without deforming the arm, so took some learning. .

well that went down like a lead balloon.. word of advice.. if the inner rips out, good. if the inner stays in, try to get it out, whilst using the bodge removed and massive washer off a grinder to remove the bush it ripped the mounting off the subframe..!! yet the passenger side without the inner came out no problem.. so now what ?? new subframe, or get the bush out hammer the bottom back to shape, use the tool to re insert the surround and weld it back in (after removing the bush first) set fire to the van ?? or sue the video maker for bad advice :)

@@nigelcallow4509 yes, we had to modify the puller we had a bit to make sure it pulled the full bushing down and not just the rubber centre.

Couldn't you use a longer bolt to install the brushing wouldn't it pull it in all so would this tool work on a Audi A6
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 жыл бұрын
Yes any boltwood work you just have to be careful to make sure it's strong enough and you have the proper cup sizes to push on the bearing properly so you don't make it go to one side or do any damage
