Hello quidsup. We appreciate you chose our distro for your review. Yea, I created the icon set via Oomox tool and colorized some of the most common applications. The idea was to follow the main Bodhi idea. Minimalism and freedom of choice. Feel free to change the icon set in Settings Panel->Applications theme->Icons tab. Anyway, nice and informative review, thanx again :)

I've always found bodhi really pretty in an old Linux kinda way, back before people were Tiling window manager or full bloated DE, this was kind of a pretty middle ground, and it's actually really cool how much the themes can change the desktop, also love the skeuomorphic design that a lot of these themes use

I had to use a translator to translate skeuomorphic into German and then had to look up what the German word skeuomorph means :-D Now that I know I fully agree with your comment! :-)

@@armorgeddon I love skumorphic designs, easier on the eyes, less abstraction.

Wow, I've never heard of this before! Interesting to see a desktop environment that isn't just a fork of Gnome.

It's a fork of enlightenment e17 window manager.

OK, I have subscribed to your channel. I was looking at this distro but I'm now sticking with Neptune OS which is just debian based with back ports available by default. Also the Kde desktop is really good.

When I first gave a try to Linux-distros roughly a decade ago, Bodhi Linux was one of the first ones due to it's lightweight and responsiveness, there were plenty of theming options and just options on top options of that just like in this more recent video . But even back then there was something I can't put my finger on, a certain unfinished, awkward feel one couldn't fix with any of the settings, like Quids said, the overall theming even in this version leaves user with a mixed feelings. For instance, if one focuses on bottom right corner, it looks exactly what it looked like a decade, tasteless icons mixed together without consistent theming and size. Maybe with enough tinkering thoroughly consistent look and feel could be achieved, maybe this is DeadBeef / Foobar2000 of distributions, that requires a knowhow and a vision to get it look just right. Overall look seems to have improved during the years but no other distro, de, wm has ever given me this awkward feeling I get from just looking at a video of it.

Bodhi is quirky, but not in a bad way, I'd say. It definitely grows on you. And you can tweak themes and icon sets yourself if you like.

@@flemtone Last time I tested Bodhi just gave the smoothest, fastest run of the dozen light environments we tested. For most if not all apps (single as with multi-tasking) on the oldest machine we had (an Athlon 1800+ with 512 MB ddr RAM). Whole desktop took less than 100 MB with that little RAM. Tested from v 3 to 5. In a word, it's not just the DM or WM that impacts a system's resources.
