I was playing to The Bothy Band's "the Butterfly" and found that my double jig didn't quite work, this was before I made it to this video, but I had heard of slip jigs before, so I looked it up and, sure thing, found it to be a slip jig. I forced myself to get used to the up accents, and you're right, I HATED it at first. I love the song though, and through suborn determination, got it well enough to play. Then, I found this video was tickled pink to discover, I did it right. Thanks once again.

Hi Michelle. Excellent videos... I'm a snare drummer for the Nova Scotia Highlanders, but I'm picking up the bodhran to learn some rythems for a celtic band I'm also playing with. Thanks for these lessons Michelle. They are wonderful (although I'm only on to Day 3 so far). I bought my first bodhran this past Saturday. I looked up the Bara MacNeils tune & was able to play along with the rhythm you used in this video. I'm excited that I could play along and it sounded half decent! Cheers!

I love your vids but this one was a bit more talking and less actual playing! Its really helpful to be able to play along with the video but you only actually played the rhythm for a few seconds. besides that its great ! Thanks for sharing your bodhran knowledge !!
