It is so nice to see a model railway operated properly and with a ppurpose. Well done sir! I love it.

Hi Rich, thanks for your kind comments. Are you still in the UK ?

oh yes we are in Burnham on Sea. Even been in the same house for 7years. I did have a couple of years in O gauge but I frusrated through lack of space and lots of problems with the local MRC. I've subsequenly sold every thing off. Carpentry is the new hobby. kind regards Rich

Good to hear from you again Rich, I’m preparing a new video of my layout which should be on KZbin in about a month. It will feature the passenger work and the telegraphic block instruments that I have made. If you watch it you may well criticise my wood working skills which aren’t great!! Regards

Very instructive this contribution, but also a beautifully built layout. Looks like I have a long way to go with my "Wantstow Rd" layout. I see the use of the Kadee 740 coupler , I got it in the house , but ultimately did not dare to, to place them under the Dapol Pannier of the diesel locomotive Class 08 , since there is much material must be auctioned off for the correct height above the rails , but an advice from you I would greatly appreciate, Hope to see many contributions from you soon. Kind regards, Rupert

Hi Rupert,thanks for your kind comments. Re Kadees on the Dapol Pannier and the 08 diesel, I’m afraid that there is no alternative on the pannier but to take out sufficient material to insert a Kadee and the plastic box of the Kadee needs to be paired down as much as possible and then superglued in place. On the 08 a paired down Kadee will fit between the front air tanks,just,but it works.This is superglued in also.my method of preparing the Kadees is as follows. Assemble the unit and run the tip of a hot soldering iron along the edges where the top joins the box,thus welding the two parts together. Fill up the centre screw hole with plasticine or similar and take off as much plastic as you can from the sides and back ensuring that it still functions ok. You can then superglue this much smaller unit into quite tight spaces ie on the 08. Unfortunately there isn’t an alternative to a bit of butchery on the models, not everyone would be prepared to alter their models though.hope this helps,Ray

Very nice Ray, most enjoyable and entertaining 👍😊 Can I ask; What loco performs interim shunting duties, ie coal, at the clay dries? Also, how do you power and index your turntable (I've an identical one to build)? Many thanks in advance. Really enjoyed this video today, very therapeutic - I have your earlier DVD that you did, you very kindly corresponded with me too 😊👍😊
@raymondgreen45972 жыл бұрын
Hi, shunting at the clay dries is undertaken by whatever loco takes the wagons down to Wenfordbridge. don’t think any locos were ever based there. I only have the space for a small section of clay dries,in real life the site was much bigger with longer run rounds so shunting was easier. the turntable is powered by a largish motor that came with the kit and is controlled with a DCC encoder so it is operated by my DCC controller same as any other loco. There is no indexing,all done by eye! usually turn the speed right down and use the red stop button once it is lined up. works nearly every time and cheap too.Glad you liked the video, another one being filmed now to show passenger working and the lever frame interlocking in use featuring also the telegraphic block instruments which I made some years ago.

@raymondgreen45972 жыл бұрын
No it’s not the same layout but a more accurate rebuild and this time using DCC with sound.My layout ‘Kingham Park’ and ‘Chipping Road’ , KZbin video available, occupied this site before the rebuild. Thanks for your kind comments

Hello Dave, I like the area for it’s varied train services up to the 1960’s but I live in Kent so I don’t get to visit as often as I would like. Now preparing a video about the passenger services and a look at the lever frame and electrical interlocking. Hope to publish that in about a month
