I could have cited more things in this video, but hey, that's experiential knowledge!
People and readings that have informed my thinking on this:
- Tangled Roots: Dialogues Exploring Ecological Justice, Healing, And Decolonization ( Especially the interview "The Lost Language of Plants And The Heart as an Organ of Perception" with Stephen Buhner)
- Work by Adianne Marie Brown ("Pleasure Acitivism," "Emergent Strategy")
- Talks by Bayo Akomolafe ( • Video )
- Work by Joanna Macy ("Coming Back To Life")

Yes! There‘s also neuroscientist, Antonio Damasio, who wrote a book „Descartes Error“, where he states that the mind and body are actually the same and interconnected, even that the first thing there was was „feeling“. It‘s really interesting especially in regards to history: the inplementation of the mechanic view of the body by Descartes and others came together with the implementation of capitalism, witch hunts and the enclosure of the commons. Great video, thanks for your work comrade!

The parent example was really interesting to me. It reminded me of discussing the possibility of seeing reality a different way or seeing a different reality on a philosophical level. Which I don't think could ever prepare you for actually experiencing another reality.

Your videos are such a gift. Thank you for sharing this brilliance and critical thought. I've been following you for years and years, and I really appreciate you. My interests have paralleled yours in similar ways, and this video in particular resonates so much with what I've been going through. I've been experiencing the interconnection of trauma and physical health, and how trauma lives in the body. Dissociation from my body, and living in my head, is something I'm unlearning. Dealing with illness and physical pain as well, which is sort of bringing me into awareness of my body for the first time. Thank you again for your delving into these important topics and solid analysis. I loved the point you made about how we are only as healthy as our communities.

i would also recommend books by Stephen Harrod Buhner, he goes deep into heart, brain and ecology stuff that Western science often overlooks. Plant Intelligence & the Imaginal Realm is my fav

a fantastic conversation and I fully agree that the insulated, brain only, model of the mind is deeply flawed and at times harmful and the wider points you connect it all to and suggested experiments/practices are fantastic. On a related, although more specifically theological/christian theme have you seen Damon Garcia's video on embodiment - it's a long one but one i keep coming back to. The only part I'd query really is the suggestion that this western 'brain only' version of selfhood has its roots in capitalism. Like ofc it is maintained as the dominant model through capitalism but as I understand the roots go back earlier into colonial enlightenment thought (and debatably even earlier in puritanical Protestantism) . Great video as ever though. personally i find the camera tracking thing kind of distracting and a bit hard to watch but this is a personal thing and like obvs creative and technical decisions are yours to make

awesome chat, thank u. have you ever read Job's Body by Deane Juhan? it's a book on bodywork that is the most elegant overview of the integrated nature of mind/body systems throughout development. Gregory Bateson also wrote some interesting stuff on defining and understanding "mental systems" without tying that to brains.
