Love this harmonic analysis. Its so hard to find this detailed an explanation of the chord progressions and how each chord works on this complex tune. So helpful in my effort to study it on the piano. Hope you do more videos like this on other jazz standards as well.

Your harmonic analysis is so helpful - treasure trove of info here that can be applied to many other songs as well. I’ve been learning this tune on piano and your analysis has helped me memorize the harmony. Thank you!

Hi, I've just taken up Jazz for the first time, I have the Real Standard book' in C version. Is this okay for the guitar, or do I need to trancscribe into Bflat? Love your videos by the way..
@tinajackel2 жыл бұрын
no you don’t have to change the key- ‚c‘ is fine! have fun exploring!

Very nice but I must point out Bb minor is the relative minor of Db major, not the parallel minor. The parallel minor would have the same root, Db minor.
@tinajackel Жыл бұрын
hi john! yes you are absolutely right about that! sorry! i always mess those two words up ( it’s a german language thing)
@qbassu Жыл бұрын
Considering your knowledge I was wondering if that was the case. Still, very nice work!

If u really want ppl to learn, show it in C with with corresponding roman numerals, then show en Db or whatever with corresponding roman numerals. Make it easy to understand, cause it is.
@tinajackel2 жыл бұрын
i know what you mean...but still i don´t know if it´s a good solution to analyse the song in C. most people play it on Db (at least on the jazz sessions) and then you´ll have to transpose it again...i don´t know if that´s easy.i don´t think this song is easy.

Excellent information and analysis. Thanks. Well done. The editing, however, is annoying. Much too quick from the end of one sentence to the next. No pause like in a normal conversation. Not very good. Irritating. Hard to follow. Too jumpy.
