So let me get this right, Alfa was spotted at Garretts house after Midnight and then WENT OUT AGAIN TO PLAY BASKETBALL, WTF!!!. Both kids didnt go to the same school or are from the same hood. What is a 11 and 13 year old doing outside with no ADULT supervision at that time? Come on parents we need to do better than that. RIP

@@brendaedgehill7761 We have to hold parents accountable for their young children especially because there is so very little room for error, and especially in a city like NYC. My god, as a 25-year-old woman living there alone I had to watch myself and those around me after midnight. Not living in fear, but understanding that you cannot afford to slip up in Manhattan, and I lived over on Sutton Place. Doesn't matter, predators are EVERYWHERE just waiting for an opportunity...and then there are those who go out hunting. You can't afford to be careless because your luck will run out.

Why was an eleven year old out at midnight playing basketball? They wanted to know the reason he died, the reason is that he did not have parents that were doing their job. His parents should be charged with child neglect.

He wasn't. The boys were in the Harlem River around 7 pm according to the police timeline. They spent the day time hanging out. Garrett's mother probably saw Garrett at 1:30 pm but got the time wrong when she gave her statement.

I really dislike blaming Alfa's mother on what happened to him. He is one of at least four children we know of in his family. He has an adult sister and brother and seems to have a teenage sister. From all accounts I've read about him, he was a really good student and didn't hang out on the streets. For whatever reason, that we aren't sure of, he left school early, didn't go home or to another family member's home, and hung out with an older and much larger boy. It was unusual for him (not to contact family) so that's why the mother didn't realize he was out. It's impossible to 100 percent of the time know where a kid is. I think the mistake made was not confirming Alfa was where he usually was, at his older sister's house so there was a break down in communication between Alfa's mother and older sister. But I have the feeling he was well cared for and supervised in his West African extended family and this was an unfortunate exception on monitoring his whereabouts. I'm not into judging and knocking these folks down as being negligent because I don't believe they were. I'm not sure of Garrett Warren's situation. He was an exceptionally tall and large 13 year old at 6 foot. He was African American. I've not heard much from his mother and just a bit from his grandmother. I haven't heard his school give a statement the way Alfa's school did. Supposedly he was seen near his home 1:30 AM. So, I don't know. I rode the NYC subways at 9 years old by myself. And, I'm sorry, the system has never been totally safe. And I come from an immigrant parent with a strong extended family that monitored me. Yet I did a few dumb things that could have gotten me in trouble. Fortunately, I didn't get in trouble. Good kids sometimes don't do the right things and they may have happened to these two kids. My condolences to the families. Very sad.

The boys were 2 years apart. People of diverse ethnic backgrounds connect as friends colleagues lovers and friends. Garret was taller and had a broader physique...since when did body types matter? Quite often you guys joke about a group of women: 1 is pretty, 1 may be shapely but yuck in the face and then there's the one who is the big body gal😅and one who doesnt dress as nice aka the broke bummy friend😮Looking at the pics of the 2 boys, I agree they appear to be opposites but they both agreed to walk on the wild side last Friday night😢

Good god, this is so heartbreaking that even the reporter is gulping as she is trying to tell this story and maintain her professionalism, while still maintaining her empathy and humanity. This is a hard video to "like" but I'm giving a thumbs up to the team who had to report on this gut-wrenching story. It's pretty clear these children were murdered. The 11-year-old boy has the saddest-looking eyes in those photos...and for both boys to be such good friends, having their lives end this way? I can see a scenario where one child falls in and struggles, and the other goes in to try and save his friend and both drown. However, , not where one drowns in the Hudson on one side of the island and the other is found dead in the East River on the other side??? No. Children this young have no business going to basketball courts after dark, much less at midnight, and this is why. Child predators are opportunists and they are ***everywhere***. Then you have straight-up PREDATORS who go out and hunt, looking for the most vulnerable victims...or even a specific victim that meets their fantasy criteria...you never know until it's too late. My heart breaks for these two children. Whatever may have befallen them, I hope they did not suffer long. There are no words that can bring comfort to these two families. I only hope they can find the strength to survive what sure seems like an incomprehensible loss to me (not a parent). How is it these two YOUNG children were out...alone...after midnight? Where are their parents??? Who names their child "Alpha" and why was his father living in Africa if he was born here? Children NEED parents...TWO PARENTS...looking out for them so predators don't get them. You know what predators HOPE they find??? SINGLE PARENTS who are too busy working to raise their own children. They HOPE to find single mothers who are overwhelmed...or better yet an alcoholic or drug-addicted parent who just gives them the child for some money so they can go buy drugs. People you CAN NOT allow your young children to be out after dark....and you have to be VERY CAREFUL even during the day. Predators have nothing better to do than wait...and watch...and target easy victims. This is so infuriating on so many levels... The family wants clarity???? Well how about the family provide some clarity as to how these 2 children were out at midnight roaming the streets of NYC??? smh Sweet Jesus, as a 25 year old woman living alone in Manhattan I had to watch every street I walked down, every turn, every time I took my dog out to go to the bathroom because even as a grown @$$ woman who traveled the world alone I knew I still had to be vigilant. smh

Please teach your children about water currents. There can be a current right under the surface of the water very strong that can pull you in any and opposite directions.m even for the most skilled swimmer. Pleaseee teach and guide your children everyday, repeat it to them. And one of most importance teach them water safety and swimming skills. No kid should be at the water without a trusted supervised adult. I wonder if they climbed the gates through the highway at 145st or went through 142 st walkway bridge to go to the water on their own at the time. Is it true they were out at 1 am. No kids should be out alone after sunset/streetlights are on. There should be surveillance cameras. So sad sending my condolences to the family of these boys.

They don’t need the country attacking them in top of the deadly error they’ve committed. YALL ALL MORE FOCUSED ON THEM BEING OUT LATE THAN SOMEONE OUT THERE KILLING LITTLE BOYS! Also-these are clearly immigrant parents and family, so what is common sense to us born and raised here isn’t the same.

Skipped out of school early. First red flag. Wandering very late at night. 2nd red flag. Sounds like the 11yr old set up by the 13yr old. Evil is real. Pimped for drugs? Sex? Money? Then told to bring a fresh victim. Siren time. This is not an accident. Pkaying ball, run to get it so not lose what is not yours, trip, fall in, other guy tries to rescue you falls in? Current and cold water take you down fast. If they had the covid shot? The cold water activates the clots, heart attack and death. Dark , late, no one see or hear them. No no no. Very fishy. Something very wrong and off here.

@@sheilasullivan1950 They weren't out late at night. The police timeline has them in the river around.7 pm plus the 911 call was at 9:09 pm. They were never out at 1:30 am as reported. And we don't know that the 13 year old set up the 11 year old. The police think they were just kids skipping rocks by the river edge. But they still want more info and to find possible videos.

Do you often broadcast how neglected your parents left you in early childhood...so much so that you're irreparably broken? That's rhetorical...it's clear they f'ed you up but good.
