Couldn't agree more with the positive feedback you're getting about the voice overs. Your videos have been helpful to me at several points in my own datsun project. Keep up the great work man!

Good job on your progress. A tip on using impact driver. Best to use a hammer with solid head instead of rubber head hammer. Rubber head just bounces off driver.

Ah, perhaps I was being too careful. I didnt want to damage the sheet metal by hammering it too harshly so I went with the rubber mallet, but noted.

Every garage needs a couple ball peen hammers. A carpenter hammer is bad form and body work are too specific. I have two. Both probably as old as I am, a med large and large small. Maybe I should just describe them as I do in my own head by simply large or small.

Really fdup seeing that apparently all the fender bolts are flat head screws. At least that’s what I’m seeing. They’re supposed to all be 10mm. A few 12mm scattered but not many. And nearly ALL have philips. Mostly true with engine fasteners unless they are larger. Nearly every nut and bolt is 10, 12,14, 16, 17mm. One thing I recall one night that really messed me up was I think a reverse thread direction on the drivers side tie rod end I believe. Great video and some truly impressive resto work that far exceeded my shoddy work. Back in the 90s this great you tube resource was light years away.

Add a propane torch to your rusty bolt removing tools. And letting nuts and bolts should be sprayed with PBblaster over night helps or while you eat lunch. Heat helps expnd and contract nuts and botls to get movement. Spray again with pb blaster and should likely come loose. Those cowel top screws heat And pB blaster. Great thorough well edited video. Also a good time to make a list as you remove things you will firget faster than you think. Great video...

Thank you sir! I dont do well with fire but yes, I've seen bolts that snap free just from heating so I'm sure it works great! Will look into it for the suspension components

Reverse drill bits have been my best bet for broken bolt removal. 1977 280z

Yup, I'm finding the same. I just don't like to use it because it ruins the fastener.

Best suggestion is to liquid wrench all the bolts that you know about to remove. Wait about a day and come back and smack it with a hammer. It loosens up rust a bit. Then go back and liquid wrench it. Rinse and repeat 2-3 times and i promise itll be a WHOLE lot easier.

The vent tank is important, otherwise you won't be able to fill your tank all the way because of the pressure iirc. It has to do with the odd shape of the tank I believe.

Yeah it seems like it. It didnt readily make sense to me based on how it was plumbed, but I'll definitely look to reinstall it back.

Would you happen to know what size screws are used for the license plate? My Z hadn't been registered in years when I picked it up and I'm trying to figure out what to use to put my new plates on it. Thanks.

No matter the condition of the fender liners, treat them carefully. You will not find an easy replacement other than making something yourself.
@RestorationForBeginners5 жыл бұрын
I will, if for nothing else than using them as a template to build a metal plate. Thanks for watching!

Use a metal hammer vs the rubber mallet on the impact driver.
@RestorationForBeginners5 жыл бұрын
I tried both and the mallet seems to be a bit more forgiving when working with body panels, but maybe I'm just being too careful. Will use a metal hammer for suspension components if I need to.
