Just found your video tutorials.......... best instruction ever! Having an instructors background (different discipline!) I fully appriciate the short and simple explanations (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and after over 20 years skiing it is a good smack in the face reminding me what I've actually been telling myself for years of getting from very competent to barely passable that I need to go back to basics and stop being lazy! It is really showing on my old legs. Keep it up, looking forward to more.

The legend is back!!! I still remember back in 2014 how I devoured the SKNG Ski School videos in a Reno hotel room, the night before my FIRST day on snow! This year I started skiing black runs with confidence. Thank you Thank you Thank you! P.S: People may think I haven't made much progress in these 10 years. Well, actually, I only really skied in 2014 and 2024. LOL. Life happened in between.

Hi Darren thought I would give an update on my chillfactore session. I can honestly say it was the most fluid I have ever skied there and I can honestly say that it was down to your ski series. They hit a chord with me. You are excellent at explaining things and can't wait to see how I get on in La plagne later this month.

These new fundamentals videos are so good, thank you. I like the combination of technical explanation and reasoning with something simple to focus on. These are useful for people like me who have learned to 'get down' a slope in control. Now I want to do it more smoothly, relaxed and as you like to say, 'calm', for longer and on any slope I want to tackle at the speed I choose. As another ski coach was fond of saying, 'Its not easy but it is simple' 😅

Glad you like them! If you work on all these fundamentals, you will achieve your goals.👍

Good vid. Simple and well explained. Good skiing too.Slightly further forward, subtle forward and back feeling is sometimes referred to as “ stroking the ski”. I do that very often.

I love your nomenclature! Words are so important in teaching. Comprehension from the students is based on comprehension. Your handle of the English language and best using of words are great and directly in line for movements and concepts of skiing. Great videos and very inspiring for me as an instructor in Canada.

Yes soo true what you say Darren. I pose a point nobody really covers much. I have an all mountain design of boot with and upright cuff angle. i also have, that i use more, a racing design (but recreation version Fischer RC4 boot) with a forward leaning cuff. I get much more ankle flexion in them. I think it depends on your physique/body, and how you like to ski aggressive of cruise all day, but it's quite an important thing this cuff angle? I really appreciate your video - subbed :)

Hello. I have a question. When I am making parallel turns, should my body facing downhill along with the fall line and looking down the fall line regardless of the direction of travel of my skis (as it is making the S turn)? Or should I align my body and eyes with the skis and where the ski is going in that moment?
@Capo515 ай бұрын
👍. Like yr examples of bad postures. Well, what you see in slopes (in Alps) are 90% bad postures and balances. Snowboarders have better, because otherwise they would fall down all the time. Very concise too. ✌️. Message is more effective as short. Thank you⛷️.

Hi Darren, I just came across your videos and I have started watching them and following you. Your video about body position definitely hit a cord with me, I cannot get the position right and I can see something's wrong when I watch videos of myself skiing although cannot tell what is wrong. I ski 1 week a year so perhaps my expectations are high but it is also demoralising. I would not mind sharing a snipet of me skiing, perhaps you can see what I am doing wrong. I have taken skiing lessons but they do not seem to help, I don't get given the right advice.

Summary; Right body position: Have the right body position: - soft and relaxed ankles - knees flexed and supple - hips flexed with slightly rounded back Stay over your feet. (Don’t lean too much forward!) Usually slightly more forward at start of turn.

Very poor instructions. A lot of mistakes in his statements. You don’t push on the skis, you support yourself. ..
@doesntmatter57044 ай бұрын
@natvlash You are wrong, it’s excellent instruction for those who are at a high enough skill level level to understand it. Someday you may get to this point, but don’t criticize when you’re not qualified to do so.
@Crazyskiatore3 ай бұрын
No, it’s very good advice actually. Just not for beginners. Eventually you’ll get better and then be able to understand it, but I doubt it.
