I think the "accidental abuse" line is a criticism of the church, as there is a lot of abuse going on behind the scenes that we now learn more of, and the church always tries to hide and protect the abusers in their midst. So the "accidental" part could be something the church says.... "it happened, but it was an accident"... rather than a pattern.

The problem with abusers in the church is that child predators hide in the church. They are good at adapting. No true Christian abuses anyone.

Till Lindemann : I believe in karma. I want every person who has done something bad in this world, to be rewarded according to his actions. I'm not an angry atheist and I dont make it a point to mock religious people but damnit i love when bands call out the church. I grew up religious and saw the same abuse they are singing about all the time. It would be covered up like nothing happened and everyone would put a smile on their face. I know not religious people or denominations do these horrible things, though. But it goes on alot more than youd think. When I go to a church for a wedding or funeral, i almost feel like I'm losing brain power, because churches are so close minded. They have to be , if they get too inclusive they lose their power, money , and any members who are big influencers in the community lose votes.

Heard that song the other day as I placed myself next to the stadium in Leipzig, Germany where they had a concert. Damn... "We lose the light" for me means we (the church) loose our idea of hope, peace and love. "The sky turns red" because we're following the light (God - he's living in the sky) but there is no god to show up. The sky turns red instead, because we follow a path of war, hate and brutalism. That's the way I understand it. 🙂

Yes, Nietzsche is also critizing the idea of a salvation and an afterlife, because it devalues the here and now. Instead one should face the abyss of loneliness, mortality and eternity to emerge enlightened and with it give life a meaning.
@fionadowdeswell-simmons49682 жыл бұрын
Several of the choir-sung words are made up which is why you wouldn't recognise them. It's a mockery in one sense of the High Latin of the Catholic Church which is what Till is criticising in the lyrics. Rammstein have hinted at the direction of such criticism in the past with Halleluja but it's quite blatant here. They preach piety and celibacy but ignore them in practise and often in the worst way. The reference to accidentally abusing children is possibly a reference to the defence put up by priests who have been charged with child abuse. As a child, I used to attend Sunday School and church, I was christened and conformed as a member of the Church of England but as an adult, I completely turned my back on it because I couldn't bear the hypocrisy not only of the church officials but of the church members as well. As far as I'm aware, Till and Flake are both atheists and the rest of the band are non-committal on the subject of religion. The first verse is very cleverly written, all first words begin with a V, an inversion of a triangle, an inversion of the Holy Trinity perhaps, showing that it's become debased. Show yourself (Zeig Dich) is a call for those who fall foul of the doctrines whilst preaching them to stand up and admit it.
