Ain't that the truth. Bodybuilding back then was all about being in the best shape of your life and being healthy and fit. Even though at times back then they did take steroids but not as crazy as today's bodybuilders.

“Arnolds body would not win today” Yeah and thats the problem. Arnie walked the line perfectly of how much muscle his body could carry before starting to look absolutely ridiculous (and he looked best when he wasn't at his biggest). Most pro body builders these days are so far over that line. Bigger isn't better.

The last guy, Hany Rambod, said things have evolved and he used an example that 30 years ago a racecar getting up to 200 mph on the straight part of the track was unheard of.... LoL 🤣 seriously? In Nascar, cars were hitting over 200 mph over 50 years ago. What a dork!

Gotta agree with Arnold on this one. Today's Bodybuilding is about packing muscles on top of muscles on top of muscles. The common theme is ''Get Bigger''. Back in Arnold's day and beyond, it was about getting big muscles of course but it also included sculpting and shaping your body to a certain shape. There was control and finesse in the muscle growth.
@dveach112 жыл бұрын
And during their time they also had to show that they could USE those muscles. That they weren't just for looks.

I've never been into bodybuilding, and have certainly never tried it myself. But When I look at guys from Arnold's era, I think they look amazing and well-proportioned. When I look at the guys nowadays they don't even look human. One of them inspires me and makes me think how beautiful a human body can look, and the other makes me wonder at how grotesque they can look. It is a subjective sport, but I'm pretty sure they are still supposed to look human.

It went from a Superman look to the Incredible Hulk. I think the reason is that it is easier for a judge to put 2 contestants next to each and see who is bigger than to evaluate symetri, beauty and posing which requires more talent, knowledge and skill from the judge. Size is an easy metric.

It's about attitude and a trained eye! When I was young, we would have all the iconic bodybuilders up on the walls in the gym (men and women), and we would study the shapes of muscles and we know the difference between beauty and big, because just being big was out there too back in the day like today. Trail and error was required for months at a time to discover what routine would work best for you and just you on a muscle zone. Some of us just have really good muscle shapes to work with, others have a particular good area, while others just don't have it but it still took patience to fine tune. I wish I had pics but back in the day I was blessed with just all round great muscle development for bodybuilding.

It should be set in stone that anyone competing with the horrendous looking bubble gut, should be instantly disqualified, and this will not only weed out those taking these dangerous drugs to look that horrible, but will also save lives and hopefully deter others.
