It’s actually very commonly known (with in the police) that officers get rid of the audio on their body cams. It helps cover them if there’s any case brought up on them. I was recently the victim of brutality after being illegally profiled, and when I reported them, before they started their investigation on the body cam, I was warned of this. I suspect that could’ve been what he was doing...

The reason they tap is because later when the tape is pulled for trial in an evidence, the police can give a very edited version of the tape and the tapping is the officer's cue to start the video at the tap.

@@slothful2039 not necessarily racism, a lot of it is often learned biases. Doctors, lawyers, cops, even if well-meaning and unaware are culturally taught to have biases towards others unlike them. Often it can and does boil down to pure racism, I believe many cops need more cultural awareness and sensitivity training. I work in a healthcare field and we call it cultural competency, but many people in my field are guilty of it too, it's human nature to treat those who are more like you better and those unlike you worse, and that doesn't mean skin color, it can be socioeconomic status, where you live, education level, etc etc

Actually, guys specifically aren’t very flexible when it comes to cuffing them. I had to use cuffs in security training and putting them on some guys it felt like they were fighting it, but generally it just means you need to pull their arms lower down their back and it loosens up the muscles/joints. It can easily, incorrectly, seem like the person you are trying to cuff is resisting it when that’s not the case
