Bodycam: Police inside Jodi Hildebrandt's southern Utah home

Body cam footage released March 22, 2024, shows when police first made contact with Jodi Hildebrandt after one of Ruby Franke's children showed up on a neighbor's doorstep, emaciated and injured. After physically removing her from the house while they attempted to find the child's sibling, Hildebrandt was allowed to go back inside so she didn't have to stand out in the Ivins heat - something the children were subjected to for days at a time, and one of the specific charges to which Hildebrandt would eventually plead guilty.

Its a technique to try to make them feel more comfortable and more willing to open up. When I worked in the criminal justice field I would do the same thing. Usually this is where you start investigating/ interviewing and then if needed a detective can become more direct- the "good cop bad cop" strategy. I have been inside the Prison in Utah before, I promise she is now extremely uncomfortable and is likely well known amongst her fellow inmates for all the wrong reasons.

It sounds like justice. But it isn't. We aren't empowered to administer punishment; we conduct investigations and make arrests based upon probable cause, but we are not the ones that make ultimate determinations of innocence or guilt. Therefore we do not exact 'punishment', because she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. You don't want us to have that power, because we are humans and we will make mistakes; and eventually we will be 'punishing' people who turn out not to be guilty after all. And that would be an entirely different video, wouldn't it?

For everyone criticising the police officer who laughed and smiled, that police officer was able to get EM to eat and drink, relax and come out. I’m happy that his happy disposition filled that house with real joy, which helped that little girl to come out of believing being happy was evil. Jodi and Ruby made that house a silent prison. That police officer allowed that house to echo with laughter, which would have totally changed EM’s perspective. He was loud, he played music, he laughed, and he was able to short circuit EMs neural pathways to trust and come out from the brainwashing of Jodi and Ruby even just for a short while so that they could save her. Sometimes maintaining a serious, somber tone is simply echoing what the abuser already has in place.

About the sterility an austerity of the home, I have watched the channels of Ruby's parents and sisters and I noticed there seems to be a lack of decor. Not a lot of knick-knacks or pictures on the walls. Things tend to be very plain so I was wondering maybe this is something peculiar to that family or I've never been in any homes of LDS members maybe they tend not to get into consumerism but that doesn't make sense when you look at Bonnie's Channel. Oh well

I believe that the painting in Jodie's hallway, that the officer inadvertently points his camera at for quite a while, is a painting of Jesus, a rather famous one, in which a repentant sinner has fallen on his knees in front of Christ asking for mercy. I wonder how many times the children were dragged in front of that painting and told that that should be their attitude. On their knees crying about how wretched they are. Heartbreaking. This has never been what Jesus is about.

I'm shocked that they let Jodi go into her own bathroom alone where she could have had a gun! They allowed her to stay on her phone, texting people, which could have been warning them. I'm positive Pam knew what the cops were there for. They're all liars, dishonest, manipulative and abusive.
