Facts! How difficult is it to give an apology? I could understand if she had made a very long, sincere apology letter that was in-depth, and very profound... But it was very short, and simple. Only someone detached from reality needs to write down what she said. Furthermore when the mayor said "that is just not...right" as opposed to "acceptable" or "that is just unacceptable", and the fact that she wrote it down shows that she is not very bright. She's more than likely someone who's been chosen by the higher ups because she's black, and a woman to promote diversity, and give the appearance of change. Who are you then.” He started demanding my ID and I just looked at him astonished that I wasn’t receiving an apology. So he grabbed me and spun me around, put me back against the wall and went into my pocket to grab my wallet. He pulled out my license and looked at me while holding it up next to my face as if to verify I didn’t have a fake ID. As he was doing that another one went up to my car and opened the door. I told them that they couldn’t search my car and the guy who had my ID just laughed. Anything that was in my car they just threw out onto the street and just ravaged my car even though they knew I wasn’t who they were looking for. You prosecute them just as if a gangbanger broke into the wrong house thinking there were drugs in the house. You don’t make exceptions you don’t make excuses. The minute they broke into the wrong house they broke the laws they are sworn uphold. And don’t think for a second Mayor Lightfoot didn’t have a clue what was going on. Once again issues like this need to be addressed by the legislative branch of our government. There should be a law that states body cam footage is legally mandated to be released because it’s paid for by public tax dollars and cannot be withheld for any reason. There should be a law that states as an officer if you break the law, whether intentionally or unintentionally you will be held accountable personally. There should be a law that states police officers need to carry their own insurance just like a doctor does…a doctor cannot claim I accidentally cut off the wrong foot, I’m sorry…they have malpractice insurance. Law-enforcement officer should be no different, if they can’t pay for the lawsuit, then you sell their house, you dip into the retirement you dip into their kids college fund. Enough with the taxpayers, paying for police officers mistakes

Tell me that the police are not idiots. A whole crew could not read numbers. I was on a roofing crew of ten people and the boss pulled up to the wrong house. We had the roof torn off before we found out. After that I paid attention. He did it again a couple years later. Right number, but wrong street. I saved the day. I was the only one paying attention. When you work with idiots you have to be the one on high alert

Safety of black women? What the hell are you even talking about here? They pressed this even after KNOWING they had the wrong address. This isn't about race... this is about a police force and a general policy of no knock warrants that is off the hook. Until we start placing EVERYONE from the signing judge on down personally responsible for these incidents... they will continue. The judge has the responsibility for ensuring the correct address on the paperwork and that the address in question is actually obtained legally and that the warrant supplied is specific in nature. If the address is incorrect or the judge signs off on a warrant that does NOT meet scrutiny, they need to be held personally responsible. This will ensure that at the highest level of this.. everyone has your best interests at heart. If the police then take that warrant to the wrong address... my expectation would be that the judge that assigned the warrant would immediately have all the officers arrested on assault and possible civil rights violations. That both indemnifies the judge while at the same time ensures that the police officers make damn sure they are at the right address if they want to keep their qualified immunity. Jesus.. this is nutzo. I get it... there ARE rare instances where it is imperative that the police rush in and ask no questions. I don't want them to lose that ability. But there needs to be safeguards in place to ensure this isn't abused. If there aren't, then this will become the norm... and not the exception.

Well it is 2024 as I write and I am glad to see that Anjanette won her lawsuit, which was justified in every possible way. She went on to speak about the injustices done to people of color, and how these botched raids can scar someone for life. Especially vulnerable children who are present when cops wrongly kick the door down, intent on busting the wrong apartment...I was very impressed by the way Anjanette handled this. I especially liked the officers, during the raid as they let her stand there, nude and shackled, telling HER to 'calm down'. WTH? I keep noticing these things happening in Chicago, whereas other places in the US have put in place protocols, and better training in terms of search warrants, getting the addresses right on a bust in ( which is pretty freaking basic)....Chicago seems to have a clueless mayor, thuggish clueless cops in need of retraining, and a system which gets it wrong many more times than should be acceptable.

It’s an easy fix to prevent cops going to the wrong address. Whenever they do, it is a minimum of five years in prison, permanent revoked from being any form of law-enforcement, and all pensions and assets are forfeited to the victim!
