Bought the 2.0 and tested it with 100 rounds. Found it consistent with feeding issues especially the 12 magazine. Second time I went to the range I shot 100 rounds of ball ammo but this time brand new Blazer Brass no problems at all. So I shot 200 more rounds now for a combined round count of 350 rounds all ball and twenty defense rounds of Underwood Xtreme Defender rounds. Since the break-in not one malfunction at all. The only con is the factory front sight is not center so the gun shoots to the left. I even shot it from a bench rest taking away most of the human element. If I use Kentucky windage this gun shoots as well as any of my other micro guns in 9mm. We will see though how it stands the test of time.

When you speak of trigger control, I was later trained to use the center of your trigger finger "pad". Before I was taught this, I had the same problem - only I was shooting low and left because my finger was too deep on the trigger and when I squeezed the trigger, there was a natural tendency to pull left and low. When I used the center of my pad, you"re pulling the trigger straight back and there was a dramatic improvement in accuracy. I was noticing that your trigger finger is deep like mine was. Just thought I would add that as food for thought.

Flat nose bullets are Garbage and really don't have an advantage in any hand gun! IMO, Good round nose ammo should be OK for all your self defense needs and not worth the money! The sights on this gun are lined up at the factory and can be verified by shooting from a Hand Rest and you should not be required to mess with them! Nice comparison. I have both the Glock 42 and have been carrying an Sig P365 380 XL frame for sometime now. Loved my 42, but had to make many improvements including the sights. Bought the Bodyguard 2.0 and just today hit the range for a break-in. Shot 50 rds of round nose and 15 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense with NO issues at all. I am a small senior citizen with arthritis in my hands making it difficult to rack the Bodyguard. Additionally, I find the magazines very stiff and ultra difficult to load especially the last round. It’s a good shooter, but issues above will keep it out of my carry rotation at least until I find solutions that work for me. There are many Glock Haters out there (I have two Glocks the G19 and the 43x mos) but every time a company drops a new firearm they call it “the Glock killer.” Moving forward I had the G42 sold it a year later after the LCP max came out because of the 10-12 round capacity, and had a few issues with hollow points, I sent it back to Ruger they replaced the barrel and it’s been great since close to 900 rounds so far 👍🏼. Now comes along the BG2.0 with a 2 stage feeding ramp and YT is exploding on how great it is and that might be the case, but I’ll wait before I get rid of my LCP max. Light buffing of feed ramps and chambers made all 3 perfect. One gunsmith said Smith uses very good protective coating. Occasionally it can be few thousandths too thick. Anyway I would polish until ramps are smooth and no catch.

Great video! First time I have checked your videos out and I am excited to see more. I am a 66 year old, retired military, who also grew up on a farm and have had firearms my entire life. I enjoy shooting I love shooting. I’m not bad. We’ll just say that. I have shot everything I have lots of different .380s by different manufactures LCP’s and original bodyguard, a Besa (which btw in under rated by the way if you have not checked one out) and an older Walter PPK that had been my daily carry for years and years. I found your video because I just purchased a bodyguard 2.0, it will probably become my daily carry and so far I love it, but I have only had 150 rounds through it. I got frustrated. I want to do some laser shooting with it and adjust the sight . I had a very similar experience to yours that out of the box it seems to want to shoot to left., though I had good groups. At first I chalked it up to perhaps it was hand position or trigger, but I adjusted my point of aim and had nice tight groupings closer to center. As it warmed up it went closer to point of aim. That said I have watched other reviews and it seems that several people have had the issue of it shooting to the left right out of the box and cold. I am not sure where Smith and Wesson zeros their guns coming out of the factory, but I think they need to look at their procedures a little bit because it seems like a lot of people have them shooting to the left coming out of the gate. I also want to point out that where the gun shoots when it’s cold is an important thing to keep in mind, even if it gets more accurate as the barrel warms up, if you have to use a firearm in self-defense, you will not have a warm-up. It will be cold out of your holster , and that is where you need to set your point of aim. No, I also don’t personally believe you should do too much adjustment to the site until the barrel has worn in about 250 to 500 rounds. All new guns need a break-in I don’t care who the manufacturer is. You’ve got to work out the kinks you’ve got to put some Brass through the ejectors run the feed ramp a bit. But that’s just my personal opinion with about 53 years of shooting experience. I also had a slight issue with the mags, but I overcame it first. It seem like I had a bit of rim because these are very tight magazines with the springs. 380s are a very fitting piece of brass I was using SNB‘s, which I find to be fairly reliable ammo and probably one of my top choices for target ammo. It’s affordable and the quality seems to be uniform. Anyway, I overcame the rim lock issue by pushing down slightly on the nose of the round as I loaded it into the magazine and it cure the problem. I had one soft primer spot, but I will chalk that up to the ammo because when I put the round back in, it went boom just fine. I experienced no other issues out of the 149 other rounds I shot. I will be going back to the range with a little bit of paint work on my sights as you really need to be able to pick up that front site with the slightly oversize “U” and a black rear sight on such a short sight radius a slight error amplifies itself. I truly think anyone else that experiences the slight shooting to the left issue should let S&W know because their procedure for setting the sights (front or rear) in the slide may be in error, again just an opinion. Anyway I look forward to more of your videos and as my wife and I both shoot I look forward to sharing some of them with her.

The review on both weapons is fantastic. Your channel is very informational. You have a little bit of fun, your petite, and he's a tall man, so we can understand the difference between your hand and in his hand and how the weapon performs. At the end of the video. You said something you want to make sure they're reliable Before You Bet Your Life on it. That would make a good t-shirt and please if you do put it on the back of the T-shirt. If you could MP40 Shield Performance Center m20 Ports single stack . Thanks

Thank you for the details on the feed ramp. Loading the magazines are challenging but it becomes easier over time; 10+1 and 12+1 configurations are not feasible for this pistol. However, 9+1 and 11+1 configurations are more dependable. My BG 2.0 front sight was misaligned out of the box by approximately .015 right of center, which caused my shots to veer left. Nonetheless, I've successfully fired 300 flat-faced rounds through my BG 2.0 without any issues.

One the LCP Max, I had the same problem with the flat nose, but I cured it by putting in a 13lb recoil spring based on some. Video I saw here on YT. It hasn’t failed to feed one time since. I wonder if the same spring would work on the bodyguard?
@adensmore1004 ай бұрын
have you guys tried lehigh defense or underwood ammo 68 grain loads? that’s all i shoot through my g42. light recoil, but plenty of velocity and fluid displacement make up for “not hollow point” performance.

Thank you for this is the video comparison I was looking for this. I am definitely looking into buying the bodyguard. It was a tossup between the BD and the 42. I think I’m gonna go with the bodyguard.

Hornady XTP or FTX have minimal expansion typically and get pretty good penetration. The opened hollow point is often similar in size to a flat nose FMJ. Just an idea.

Ever go to an IDPA match? It would be perfect for practicing with your concealed carry setups, testing rounds, and making you clear jams under pressure (clock is ticking), shooting in different scenarios is fun.

Have you tried or evaluated any of the fluted nose design. Like the Underwood Xtrem Defender. They have good penetration and do not rely on expansion. Which is great for slower caliber like .380 . Would like to hear you opinions after evaluating those round. If possible try it on some ballistic gel.
@bobmacquarrie4 ай бұрын
Those rounds are highly prone to failure to feed problems....I would want to shoot probably over 300 rounds of those before I bet my life on them and thats very expensive. We use Flat nose FMJ because it's cheap enough to also train with it...sooooo were always shooting the same round, carry or range.....Mac

So at 1:50 mark when you had a misfeed, did you fix it with the “slap, rack, and bang” method? I had that happen to me recently and I forgot to do that method and the gun guy at the range fix it for me, but I forgot to ask him what he did to fix it. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to do slap, rack and bang, or lock the slide and pull the magazine.

My bg 2.0 feeding problem. You have to lock slide and drop mag. When you do, the stuck bullet says "boing" and jumps out the ejection port 20 feet across the room.

At the 8:39 mark, the Bodyguard seemed to shoot some keyholes at the 2 o’clock area. Was that a consistent issue? My wife has a S&W 380EZ that we found one brand of ammo consistently shot keyholes at a variety of ranges.

This is the first review I’ve seen that showed the feed ramp of the bodyguard. I think it’s still a very promising weapon.

I would like to know if you have figured out which type of self defense ammo you are going to carry with the bodyguard 2.0? Having problems with the Hornaday critical defense, not loading properly just like you had in the video. Also, did you switch out the sites and if so, to which one?

Thank You for this video comparison. I own a Glock 42 and had trouble racking it. A tactical racking assist device was installed. I can shoot it fine despite the arthritis in my my hands. I rented the Bodyguard 2.0 at the range. I had difficulty loading the mags, the gun was enjoyable and accurate to shoot. I hope there will be a assistive device for people who have arthritis.

You guys should look into the G9 380 external hollow points they are a little expensive but all the videos I've seen people testing that ammo it seems to perform a lot better than regular hollow points

Since the B.G. 2.0 has 2 feed ramps. With my .380s that I own. I use hp ammo. Do you think the B.G. would have failure to feed with hp ammo? Thanks for the review.

Yeah, so far, this is the only instance in which I've seen this happen with the BG2.0.
@rushthezeppelin4 ай бұрын
It's my undertsanding that this happens with a lot of 380s just because there can be so much variation in bullet shape and it's just so damn short. Add on top of that a very compact gun that necessitates a very steep feed ramp to remain so short and you get potential ammo pickiness. Mine eats Armscor ball ammo and g9s though so I'm happy with it. Find a ball ammo and a carry ammo it likes and I see no reason to complain.
@davidpyle73334 ай бұрын
And to be fair this is a sample size of 1 with maybe 150 rounds through it, might just need range time and will smooth out…

I had one malfunction in the first 20 rounds, then 0 malfunctions in the following 300 rounds. I’m chalking that one up to the break in period. Haven’t had any issues with Critical Defense or Federal Hydra Shoks. The one malfunction was with Fioochi round nose FMJ. Had no issues with WWB Flat Nose FMJ or any of the JHPs.

Looks like the grip is a tad longer on the 2.0. If the reliability is equal to the Glock 42 I would consider switching. Thanks for the update and I look forward to future updates as well.

Loved the video, and agree with you guys about both guns - other than my Glock 42 has a rare good stock trigger. But between size, weight, and capacity the new Bodyguard outshines every other pocket 380 I can think of. I just can’t wait for holster props or blueguns to come out so I can start carrying my Bodyguard 2.0 and stop using it for making kydex holsters. People are ordering those faster than I can make them!

@jamesstanley39444 ай бұрын
I shot my 380 for the first time. Right out of the box. I shot over 200 rounds through it, had no malfunctions, and at first it was shooting to the left and the more I shot it the better it shot and I was hitting where I was aiming. I shot all kinds of ammunition through it, mostly the flat nose. Sometimes the way you hold a gun will cause it to malfunction.

.. Lots of these double stack mags are hard to load the last numbered round ,,, just load one less than total planned until spring gets broken in .. .. Had a similar feed ramp issue years ago with a .45 acp 1911 ,,,, find a good gunsmith or send the firearm back to S&W to polish the frame ramp ... and mag spring follower .... bullet tip should not be in contact with the barrel ,, entering barrel too flat ,, imagine a large cavity HP ,, self defense round ,,, would be a repetitive problem .... and keep in mind , ACP "rimless" case firearms are originally designed for round nose bullets .... this is a QC issue .. common to find on firearms released before ready .... similar to the Sig 365 with the firing pin problem .. Awesome looking and designed handgun ,, just give "customer problems break in time" before buying new models ... Failure to function problems can cost a life ... ..... Thank you for showing and commenting on this issue ,, maybe before thousands of them are sold ... I think this model will be a preferred "must have" one day ... just not yet ...

I don't know why a lot of people do reviews with a gun straight out of the box. I like it after about 500 rounds. I find that it gets a break in period .
@kevinrtres22 күн бұрын
...but then there's no history of what happens when you take it out the box and start shooting...which is WHY people watch or read reviews - they want to know BEFORE they have to spend all that money on ammo just to get to 500 shots....!

Ms. Stav you seem to have found your new edc. A lady instructor at a range I occasionally train at liked it over her Glock 43x as well. I fondled one & ain't willing to change my grip for it but it wasn't really made for me anyway. I hope you enjoy it more as you go. Mac, if you need a sight pusher, check out the Jennings Machine & Tool Mark V. A little tedious to set up but worked on my Kahr mk9 & my Springfields, both of which are known to be ridiculously tight. Keep up the great work ya'll!
