@@Schtiel So how does that help? He described it as beneficial for discreetly giving out your phone number. Trying to read your number off that phone is gonna be even more obvious because your gonna have to hold it right up to your face 😂 same with taking and making calls, you're still gonna have to hold it to your ear and speak out loud. I can't see how the size of the phone benefits anybody in that scenario. I supposed you could set it to vibrate and put it down your trousers...

Having a pen also has the advantage that if a fan is asking for a autograph, everyone nearby will search through their pockets. Specifically then the risk of someone pulling out a weapon without being noticed is extremely high. So if u already have one you can just quickly hand it over to the fan, avoiding this risk

Was sceptical of this at first based on the title as I thought that it'd be about celebrity gossip but I should've trusted in LADbible. Always interesting content and this provided compelling insight into a very closed-off world that ironically has a very public face. I bet he does have some insane stories - we only see the versions of these celeb types that have been crafted by their PR people, and this man was there to protect those kinds of images, but hearing about them being at odds with organised crime does not surprise me at all (gambling, drugs - all of the excess that comes with money and fame). Also, he would be a great pick given that he doesn't have the stereotypical "look" of the bodyguard. You can tell that this guy is serious and can handle himself. We need people like this on the side of the working masses.

99.99 % of the time - things were quiet. I was the 1IC of a place. I got a call - from the Personal SRC of an Industry guy. I arrived in shorts, sneakers and Hawaiian shirt. We knew our subject - he had a photo. He asked me - "what is the plan - I will stay seated outside - and wait - if he comes back - You take right - I will have left - and Subject GOES out the door". 30 min later - I get a meal - and me and his SRC were enjoying a coffee. I gave him my personal number - in case he was coming back - and none of us would get sidestepped. 30 yrs of stories. I remember saying I would write a book. Thank you to those still working. So - maintenance pulled the mover deck off a garden tractor. I had a wheelchair for inside the places - and crutches for the stairs. BTW - 76 hectares - 34 buildings - $110 Mill in stationary. It is 0430 and I am rolling out checking the place. I left the lights off on the tractor. Car is parked and it was not there 30 min before. So I roll up to the side window - they are steamed up. I rap on the window with my flashlight. 2 faces - and the lady is screaming not to call her mother. I quickly told them - I don't care - I told them which road to take - about 5 minutes from here - and I don't care what happens there. They both yelled "Thank You" and I disappeared in the night. Cheers!

Problem with big dudes (I am 6ft4) is that we can’t blend in the crowd. A lot of celebs want to feel safe without attracting too much attention. With four 6ft4, 260lbs men walking behind and in front of you, you do attract attention. Guys my size get asked to be bouncers quite often though.

'Tactical Pens' do vary a lot but a decent one is actually pretty damn versatile you can do all sorts, glass breaking, collecting DNA, prying, pressure points, impact, impalement, joint locks etc. They're basically like utility based kubotans and they can also function as a pen... Perhaps one of their biggest advantages is that you can carry all of that versatility almost anywhere, even in really strictly monitored places like the United Kingdom. Personal alarms are also great and definitely not just for the girls. They've developed such inaccurate connotations over the years because they've been called things like 'rape alarms' in the past. But they're quicker than making a phone call, they're very loud and very distinct and will immediately draw attention to you if you're in trouble and that trouble could easily be anything from a mugging, to something like a really fast seizure or asthma attack, through to being trapped somewhere injured. They're brilliant tools and they're small, you can always have one with you for free it costs you nothing to carry one around.

I am an occasional body guard (when covid allows). It's ok, you get to see amazing things, hotels, palaces etc. Meet celebrities sometimes. But the hours are shit and random and you spend most your time doing bodyguard outer cover to rich people who already have their own body guards with them (as your a local you have the licences). Also unfortunately Brexit has fucked most the main training and work paths for new guys with British Passports. In reality you can't be a body guard in the UK unless you are ex police or military and even then to get a section 5 licence you have to beex met as it's a perk of there's. I moved to Italy. Did all my firearms and tactical stuff there. Now it would be pretty much impossible.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was ex sas or para or SBS. I’m just a gardener who worked for some very wealthy client before they had two bodyguards. One SBS one never told me his regiment but I heard it was SAS or paratrooper despite the fact they were stockier due to working out more they spoke very similarly and had a casual type attitude to their previous deployments whilst serving their brigades and in private sector. I have no doubt they carried a heavy toll for what they’d done and seen but didn’t air it in public. Really nice unassuming guys who could have blended into the background pretty much anywhere. I was expecting meatheads before they turned up. We spent hours talking about everything under the sun, not military stuff at all as both had social time together on the estate. Really nice guys, very similar to this guy.
