It's a clock, there is one on each side. Time is displayed in UTC, and there is also a timer function so the crew can see the total flight time. The timer must be started manually when the crew begins and ends the flight.

Leave the camera on the side. The guy holding the camera sucks, it's much better footage on the side of the plane, as we can easily see the instruments and get a nice wide view outside. The guy holding the camera is out of focus a lot of the time as an amateur he's relying on auto focus.
