Unique and fantastic video, always wondered how this worked. Slightly miss hearing the old Shanwick Oceanic clearance voice frequency of the old days. ‘Shanwick, Shanwick, requesting oceanic clearance”.
@CaptainBoeing6 жыл бұрын
Yep.. but I don't miss those day ..CPDLC match better...

Thank you for the video. I've never flown the NAT tracks before. Great material

CPDLC is so great but I prefer the good old "Shanwick radio, CAL 951, reporting LIMRI at time 2101Z, flight level 340, Mach .84, estimating 52 North 20 West at 2124Z, then 52 North 30 West thereafter" ;)

@@The2T Good eye, but I’d much rather live vicariously as a pilot on VATSIM than keep getting denied a medical IRL. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to become a true pilot because of my mental/medical history

thank you very much, it helps a lot to see it in action.

Nice! Let me ask you something, regarding ATC procedures how do you cope with weather deviations during crossing? Do you use ACARS/DATALINK as well?
@CaptainBoeing6 жыл бұрын
Yes u can do it with CPDLC .

Satellite? It clearly shows VHF datalink, so either POA (regular VHF ACARS), or AOA (VDL-M2, ACARS over AVLC). You sure this is via satcom?

What happens if they give you a different oceanic route? How do you reprogram the FMC with the correct coordinates if something like that were to happen?
@CaptainBoeing4 жыл бұрын
Yes it can happen...easy..you just change the coordinates of the FMC according to the new crossing clearance..

when they sent you the clearance with the random route, the coordinate on the message were the same as entered on the fmc ?

No .. there is a 5 digits shortcut for the FMC

BIG BIG QUESTION. GETTING INTO NAT-HLA AIRSPACE WITH ADS-B ONLY ONBOARD AIRCRAFT, DO I NEED TO COMMUNICATE FULL STANDARD POSITION REPORT? OR JUST DE DATA LINK PHRASEOLOGY? EXAMPLE: GANDER RADIO: N123 SELCAL CHECK, ICELAND NEXT

Over my head in your communications and requests but I know why you request is what is granted because what is needed.
