Boeing on July 2024 again delivered two F-15EX fighter jets to the US Air Force (USAF), namely aircraft numbers 7 and 8. At the same time, the Commander of the US Air Combat Command stated that the initial operational capability (IOC) of F -15EX has been achieved.
The two newest F-15EXs were delivered to the 142nd Wing (142nd WG) at Portland Air National Guard Base, Oregon.
This aircraft will replace the role of its predecessor, namely the F-15C Eagle , which is currently still operated by the unit.
A total of 18 F-15EX will be delivered to the 142nd Wing. This number is part of more than 100 F-15EX units that will strengthen the USAF.
The USAF 142nd Wing carries out air defense duties from Canada to the California border in support of USNORTHCOM and NORAD.
The F-15EX Eagle II is a modern variant of the F-15 Eagle which was originally developed by McDonnell Douglas and is now part of Boeing.
