Can they make the floor beneath the pilots be a monitor that displays what is underneath the cockpit in the sky?

Am I the only person who thinks touch screens are too"touchy"for use in an aircraft during rough turbulence, sudden loss of power or other circumstances where the cockpit is vibrating or high g forces are being brought to bear? I'm pretty sure, certainly hope, that they use s better touchscreen than my phone does because I"hit"the wrong button a lot with touchscreens. I think its great that technology advances, but its not an advance if it isn't an advantage over the previous methods. Does this control system actually work as well under stress as it does during smooth skies?
@givmi_more_w9251
@givmi_more_w9251 8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Foye It does. Otherwise those planes wouldn't fly with it. Aerospace equipment has to be licensed, and they are strong criteria. The Dreamliner to my knowledge flies with that touchscreen for ... 5 years now. Never heard of troubles with it. And compared to the steam-gauge cockpits those glass cockpits don't overwhelm you. Ever seen a 747-200 cockpit on a photo? It's madness. It's cool, but insane to monitor. But I perfectly understand your anxiety. I am also always a bit skeptical about such things - but then you have to keep in mind that the computers on an airplane are not to be compared with our computers at home.

+steven halliday I was more concerned with a pilot having trouble with the touchscreen during rough weather and other unfavorable conditions. I've heard more than one pilot speaking about how they had to operate cockpit controls in darkness or struggle against g forces to reach controls.

Beautiful, beautiful, nicely choreographed. Love ya Boeing, lets keep those planes moving. Hoping God Willing for a second visit to the Boeing Commercial Airplane Plant in Everett, WA since May 2009. Boy did I have a blast. I spent about $150 buying the new Boeing 747-8i, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 767-400ER, the Boeing 737-900ER NG, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and a United Boeing 747-400. I still have my UPS Boeing 727 since I received it as a gift way back in the 20th century. I also have the Boeing 747-200B VC-25A Air Force One Model. Nice collection. Can wait until the new Boeing 737 MAX comes out. You guys are the best airplane makers in the World. My next book I will read is the Boeing 747 after I had finished reading the Boeing 777 way back in 2010.

See this is why I have a bit of a problem with Donald Trump. You are a great example of a kind hearted good Muslim who wishes good upon all. (Pardon me for bringing up politics) You are fascinated with Airplanes like many other Americans, and aren't trying to kill anyone. Good people like you need to be noticed in the world. Anyway are those Boeing's you picked up models? Or parts? 150 seems like quite a good deal.

OK of they don't have to touch the screen to make anything work OK fine but of they have to touch it heck no cause it will be either to touchy or it won't want to work when you touch it so either you won't be able to land or you accidentally something off and then you crash and if you're paying attention to the screen because its not working Daniel crash it won't be paying attention to how high you are or how will you are so you could hit another plane or crash into the ground or go through stormy patch of clouds

+Nick „budapestifiu“ Then the in-built self-destruction machine will go off and kill innocent children in Africa. Geez. Just kidding - the old planes had a lot of buttons to press at the wrong time, too. That is not a problem of the glass cockpit - the steam-gauge cockpits where stuffed with, well, gauges, that's why they had a flight engineer on board to eyeball them. Nowadays, the computer does it, and it isn't that new. The 767 had a glass cockpit when it came out - of course not that fancy with touch-screen and everything.

It foggiest my mind that instructors in flying clubs STILL want you to learn on steam gauge equipped 1978 Cessna 172Ms when current state of the art is far superior to round guages. They say they want you to learn this first and then graduate to glass only if you need to. Please! give me a Cessna 172 with more situational awareness and information at eye level. Even though I learned to drive in a Chevy II with 3 on the tree, doesn't mean I'll ever drive one again.... coffee, black, thanks

Pilots have deliberately been buying planes with analog gauges because of the volatility of batteries, and if your batteries were to go dead (like can happen, especially with Boeing's 787 Dreamliner as well as many small planes) and you had to land, analog gauges require no power, so they would all still work, but all those innovative avionics can't run without power, making it very dangerous to land for larger planes especially because they fly IFR (which stands for instrument flight reference, meaning you use the instruments, instead of your visual outside sight line to fly) just making it more dangerous if there were to be an electrical problem.

Elecctrical systems on airplanes like these are backed up by 2 extra systems in case one fails, and if all 3 fail you'd still be able to monitor because of the RAT
