Actually, no. If the company bumped the GWI to 40% with bulk for first year and add more than $10 to the pension multiplier for existing eligible employees to say $20-25. A slight better touch on medical and prescription benefits and production will fire back up. Guaranteed. The best thing Ortberg can do outside of this is start house cleaning in the management tree that led to this extreme bitterness between hourly and leadership. There was a time when ppl were proud to work there. Now, with the way it’s run, ppl don’t even want you to mention they work there. Make a very attractive workers compensation package that will draw experience and talent again to apply. Then you won’t have to do lowly job fairs scraping the bottom of the barrel of desperate workers.

I've had managers tell engineering how to tell ME and my team how to FIX THE JET even though managers had no clue as to what was going on. We would have spent an additional week in the fuel tank had I listened to them. I asked one other teammate to work with me and troubleshoot the issue and found out it was electrical; two swapped wires on a connector that the factory had recently rebuilt. I intended to withhold this information from the manager who pushed the work order through to the shop, but he walked in as I was informing my team lead about what we found. I called him out on his B.S. and he just walked out of the room to tell his managers what was going on. Management is clueless and lacks respect for Union members.

If you can not figure out how to fund the pension try some or all of these things. 1. fix the COLA to regionally calculated 2. 20% GWI day one then 8,7,5 3. 8% automatic 401k contribution 4. 8% 100% 401k match 5. 4% Christmas bonus in November not a ampp in February 6. Increase Paid time off by 25% 7. 1 LWOP every 30 days 8. Increase college program to 100% of top 10 Boeing desired degrees. 9. Increase 401k choice to 20 different index funds. 10. 15K cash only signing bonus. 11. Have all the things be applied to all overtime hrs.

They need to up the pension multiplier because many of the old timers with pension grievances won't have years left before retirement to reap a lot of those rewards. But I agree with a higher up front wage..12% doesn't sound very appealing. And yes a larger signing bonus to make up for lost wages.

The IAM members do not realize that they are actually angry at the Union and their fellow members not just the company. The union negotiated with the company and Agreed to let the pension go to a vote by members. The members voted it out. If you have worked there less than 10 years you accepted the job that had no pension. Employees with over 10 years was part of the vote back then and Your Union Brothers and Sisters voted the pension out. Just a true Fact:

People building planes should be paid well… makes the job harder to get so you can get better employees. You get what you pay for. Also Washington state is really expensive we’re not trying to get rich, just trying to raise are families. Other trades in the state make 20-30 dollars an hour more than us. We can make up for it with Ot but working 7 days a week gets old. Also the plane I work on cost 400 million dollars Boeing can do better

How much more time do you need off? We start out with a minimum of 2 weeks of vacation, 40 hours of sick leave and 11 holidays. That's 208 hours or 26 days off. The vacation can be even more when you work overtime. Then you get an extra 1 hour of sick leave every 40 weeks after 1600 hours worked. This doesn't include your 1 LWOP every 60 days, which is another 48 (unpaid) hours off.

You idiots obviously don't know how much the pension would cost them. Less yhan 2 billion dollars a year. And if they secured it though the correct channels it could fund the same amount for less than 800k a year. How many planes a year is that??? Less than 10 planes a year go back to the people who build them on top of the less than 5% that already goes to them. Boeing output 50+ planes from renton A MONTH at its height. Get out of here!! They can afford it if they get these people back to work and fix up shop. They just dont want that cutting into shareholders' pockets. And yhe union is greedy? They have 500 billion dollars just waiting to be built and delivered. And apparently they just got more orders.. Some of you people need to actually do math.
