Being a novice DCSer, I agree that using a stick to start with is a good way to start. However, I was fortunate enough to start with a mid level HOTAS. Thats way better than a stick alone. I'm no keyboard jockey. Besides, using just a KB and mouse, theres way too much to have to remember..at least for me. 😁 Anyway, thank you for all your videos BD, keep it up. 😁😎

Not a beginner, but enjoying your videos! I would have mentioned the possibility of creating a modifier so you can basically duplicate the number of buttons you have in your hotas. For example, button 2: flares. Modifier + button 2: chaff. I think this one of the greatest options when setting up controls! Keep on the good work!

@@ashitaka74 Damn, I thought that he would've mentioned them. Modifiers are crucial to increasing your own controls 2-5x. Also let's you bind to more realistic switches (using the same physical button for different outputs).

Don't forget to "Save Profile as" for EACH device you have, for EACH jet/helo you have, under the ABAC AND Axis commands and save that in a folder as a backup. If you lose all of your bindings because of an update it will be a "life" saver. I've had to rebind 9 different aircraft (4x button boxes, 3x UFCs, 3x MIPs, a joystick and throttle) twice because I didn't learn my lesson the first time...

Is there a way to leverage your binds for one FC3 aircraft on all FC3 aircraft? So that similar functions all have the same bind?
@2KOOLURATOOLGaming8 күн бұрын
Yes. You can save each column of bindings as a profile on your PC. Just get to the "All but axis commands" controls that you want to copy into another aircraft, then press the drop-down arrow on the device header (top of a column). 'Save profile as', then just name the file as date, device and aircraft. Do this with all your columns (except M&K). Navigate to your new aircraft, make sure that you have created the exact same modifiers with the same names(if you're using any). If you don't do this step, it won't recognise any bindings which included modifiers and you'll get a red exclamation for that binding slot. Now click on the drop-down arrow for a device and load the saved profile into it. Et voilà, now any bindings which had the same name (MiG29 - "(1) Navigation Mode"), will automatically bind the same control to (SU27 - ”(1) Navigation Mode"). Then you just need to bind your axis commands and any different controls which weren't present on the old aircraft.

@@BogeyDopewhy didn't you mention modifiers in this video? Do you not use any? I have a STECS which has many a button, but I still use modified because they allow more bindings and can enable life-like controls on a single input. You can also group similar actions like having gear, parking brake and drogue chute on the same metallic switch. Modifiers are best created using switches that are easily accessed along with every other switch, like a secondary trigger (that'd lose you one button but you could press 98% of other switches along with it, so you've just doubled your button count).

Fully aware. I don't use modifiers. Nothing wrong with them. Should've mentioned it at least. My mistake for forgetting to mention it.

The double clicking doesn't work
@BogeyDope7 күн бұрын
I've never seen or heard of double clicking not working. That's odd. If it is not working, simply click on the control you want, and then click "Add" and it will pop up the same binding window and you can then press the button you want it to be. Hope that helps.

Great video - I would add on how to export and backup the configuration files as well. I back mine up to google drive so in the event something catastrophic happens, I have a copy I can grab and move in so I don't have to go through this every time (especially multi-module fliers like myself).
