A short video showing us leaving a camp spot that initially caught us by surprise with how hard it was to get into around inskip point.

Perhaps a drop in tyre pressure would have helped. From a fellow Y62 caravanner.

What psi would you recommend and do you mean caranan tyres as well? cheers

@@JH-jo9wt Hi, three years since my comment lol, but in answer re sand and tyre pressures.....I am from WA and we have a lot of sand here to deal with. My go to pressure to start with is 20psi , any more than that is a waste of time in terms of making a difference. Then 15 psi if needed and down to 10 psi if also required as each increment makes a large difference at lower pressures as you are letting a larger percentage of air out of the tyre vs what remains. At very low pressure keep speed down and dont make sharp turns as it can push sidewalls off rims. re the caravan yes let them down as well as it makes easier rolling over sand. Hope this explains and helps. Pump some air back in when conditions ease.

This is why I’ve ordered my Y62. A bit more momentum would have helped though.

I never seen or heard about someone bogged at the right tyre pressure. Personally when I tow heavy objects like this caravan I would have all tyres at 10 psi including the caravan and if the sand Is softer go down as low as 6 or 7 psi

I have had 2 tyres come off the bead at 12psi while 4wd once and it made me nervous, now I leave them right up unless I get to a point that I cannot proceed

Done well for full tyre pressure in van and car that rig would go through anything if all tyres where on 10psi 🍻

What do you think of the Y62? happy with it? Would you rather a diesel or do you like the petrol?
@DamianCandetti2 жыл бұрын
For cross country the Y62 gets better fuel, for stop start city driving the 200 are much better. They both pull very similar fuel figures when towing large vans. I have always prefered petrol but I was really swayed with the price being 50% cheaper than the toyota. that being said its worth mentioning that with my lead foot around town I was pulling 20L/100k average
@MattBlack62 жыл бұрын
@@DamianCandetti going purely from stated fuel figures, you'd need to do 400,00 odd kms in the LandCruiser to get the purchase price difference back in fuel saving.

Is your patrol on standard suspension?
@DamianCandetti2 жыл бұрын
Yes with airbags to assist with the load. Full disc. I would next time get rated springs as all 4 times I have had airbags they leak air. Pretty unreliable.

G,day Damien, just like to commend your wife driving , i thought she quickly felt out how to power and how much , maybe you could explain to her about feeling the car slip or grip and how to apply power bit more gentle as car starts to grip or less power when it slipping , or demo this to her , but if she was my wife i,d be proud of her abilities

@@DamianCandetti Don't mind me, I just have a thing about large off road vans. If your caravan does everything you expect of it, then it's the van for you. Happy travels.

You’ve got to be pretty special to take house on wheels on soft sand or hard tracks. Nothing to do with the camper, it’s the driver who can’t leave home without taking his home with him and expects to take it anywhere because it has bigger springs and A/T tyres.
