What're your thoughts on a good ETF that you would hold to go along with QQQ in an IRA? I still have a long way to go. Don't mind risk. But is there an etf in here you like in addition to QQQ that covers different sectors?

All these funds are 100% US. International diversification is important! VTSAX and VTIAX are all you need for stocks, or better yet VTWAX.

The shareholders own the company. It is the reason I got into Vanguard funds and as long as it stays that way I will stay with them.

I have another view on the ETFs business. If managers can't deliver a product that can beat the index on performance (and on average, by definition they cannot). At least they can offer a product that allows investors to tailor their portfolios to their personal beliefs and restrictions. And in a manner that's very low cost!

My grandfather was a principled investor, and I lost him at the age of 12. I was too young to have an interest in money and earning. Jack reminds me of him. Such an upright man who's done so much for the average investor. RIP, Jack.

Vanguard will never hit 100% of the securitisable market, but their growth will always be at least the same as the return on the underlying funds (their revenue is the total expense ratio out of that). Such growth is a SYMPTOM of placing judgement over process, governance and stewardship over growth, avoiding risk over maximising profits.

I do buy Vanguard Index ETFs. But they are a smaller part of my overall investments. And they are still very low cost to buy and own. They help a individual investor starting out to start investing. You can buy a share at a time. I never day trade ETFs which is what I think Bogle's concern was about them.

It's just currency indexing. Dow stocks were 995 silver dollars in 1966 and are still 995 silver dollars today. Stocks simply keep pace with counterfeiting currency, not profits. Yields are down 50% from 4%, the 100 year median, to 2%. If stocks drop 50%, it will be mean reversion to the 100 year average. The Fed will not let the stock market mean revert. The currency counterfeiting is out of control, globally. This is why gold was $35 an ounce to $1,400 an ounce. The dollar is down on the same ounce of gold. It's counterfeiting by the Fed, that's all it is. It's a massive counterfeit currency bubble. Protect yourself.
