Nina - this is absolutely amazing! I've only seen people use the distress oxide with water splatters - this really gives such a nice way to use them that doesn't include the randomness of splattering. I have never used a stencil yet. I have attempted making my own stencil, with some results I would like to use. But I am more inclined to draw and paint patterns, or use bits of painted paper and fabric paper I have in my stash. Someday that may change, but I kind of like being stuck using my stuff. Do like you finished piece, and have had that elephant stencil pack in my hands to purchase...so I do like the images also.
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia7 жыл бұрын
+Monica Eggleton I have been using stencils more for backgrounds recently, and that is originally what I thought I'd use these for. I saw a panelled picture in a home decor book and that was gave me the inspiration and these stencils were perfect for this idea. This was so much fun to do, especially the second one once I'd got the hang of it!

I love it! Your projects are always so gorgeous. Brilliantly beautiful colors. Could you explain to me the difference between the Distress Oxide and Distress inks. I don't have a good knowledge about the different products available. That would be an awesome video ( a kind of 101 on the general popular art supplies paints, inks, dyes, sealers etc....) Tfs❣
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia7 жыл бұрын
+Angie Hayden Thanks Angie. The distress oxides are a cross between a pigment and dye ink. They have a kind of chalky finish and are opaque, they can be layered on top of one another easily without turning to mud. As you could see, they work beautifully with embossing powders. The distress inks are dye inks and and are more transparent and will turn to mud unless you choose your colours wisely. They can be used together with beautiful results if the colours are chosen carefully. The oxides are much more versatile in my opinion. I'll see what I can come up with regarding a 101 when I'm back in the UK. 😊

+Patricia Stubbs Thanks Patricia. I just drew a layout of my own. I was guided by the size of the pattern strips on the stencil. I did have a trial run which you probably saw at the end of the video. This is not as complicated as it looks, but planning is key!
