I love this song. Not just because of Mike Patton's vocals but there's a beautiful darkness to this. To those complaining about Mike's presence on this track, just listen to the fucking music for what it us and quit bitching and let others just enjoy it. There's a fluidity to his vocals that you are missing because of it.

Spot on Peach. Patton's vocals gives the darkness of the music a gentle lift.

I understand the gripe of Mike on this track but he lent his voice beautifully. I really think it worked. Good for Bohren and Mike.

Is there any voice, any frequency that Mike Patton can't produce? I myself don't think so. This is a wonderful song, beautiful music, beautiful voice.

I'd listen to Midnight Earth every night for a year to fall asleep to. Then one night I put this on and midway through the vocals took me by surprise. Originally, it turned me off, but this works. It didn't at first, but after the third time.... this is great. If it was anyone else but Patton (or maybe, as someone else said, Gira) it wouldn't.

Bohren should put more vocals in their songs like this!

I agree, but 'like this' means Mike fucking Patton, wich implies things most singers can't do tho

it's funny, they're hating on the guy who enabled them to discover this band in the first place, bohren's albums before ipecac were only released in limited numbers and only in germany

That’s rubbish. I knew both bands at separate points in time, before I discovered this tune.

Can anyone explain this 5 minutes version? Both Bohren albums that have this song (Beileid and Bohren for Beginners), have it listed with 13 minutes and 16 seconds on discogs. Where does this one come from or where was it released?
@leschpountz3614 Жыл бұрын
I'm quite sure the vocals on the 13 min version only begin after two or three minutes. So I guess this version is just a cut from the 13 min version since it sounds exactly the same

Mike likes to experiment with his voice, these guys let them do that on their song and voila. I don't see this as a bad thing.

@oldoddjobs Well, I hadn't listened to the song. That is, until you responded to my month old message, bringing me back to this song, reminding me how much I dislike it. But hey, if you don't like my opinion, just don't respond to it. Problem solved.
@Animaduniversum13 жыл бұрын
I'm not yet sure wether I like the new song or not. It actually sounds okay but compared to their earlier songs it's very poppy and orotund. Even the German mainstream/commercial broadcaster Pro7 which usually reports about "Germany's Next Topmodel" covered the collaboration. And that's not why I'm listening to Bohren.

i'd prefer it if they didn't do this... but it's nice to see them experimenting imo - motion is still good even in "uneventful music", right?
@c-c-c-carlos13 жыл бұрын
i'll be the one guy that doesn't like it. i love Bohren's work endlessly, but I can't do this, Mike Patton is amazing but I think he is a completely different beast from this.
@oidum12 жыл бұрын
I like Mike I like Bohren, and i hope, they will never meet again in the studio. This is not a match, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen have got the voice for this, but the only one I can think of to be vocalist and has got the right energy to comply with bohren is Michael Gira.
@Complete18012 жыл бұрын
@deceysive In total agreement. I have been a fan of a lot of Patton's work since I was a kid, but this was completely unnecessary. To me, Bohren's music lent itself to something much more subtle, or at least a voice that isn't so recognizable and tongue-in-cheek. His voice just makes it sound goofy, and totally strips it of why I like Bohren in the first place. Man, I'm surprised at how annoyed I am at this right now, but I can't help it.
@northaunt10 жыл бұрын
vocals dont fit to Bohren... music.

also, this is a cover of a vocal song from Warlock
@VaelVictus4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no, please keep it instrumental. These lyrics and the guy wailing them are just... not good.
@ClosedCasketVideo12 жыл бұрын
I wish they'd release this without vocals... 'cause man... it's Bohren. This just doesn't work.

mmmm.....not a good interpretation

Dude! Mike! I'm down and all, but for christ sakes, leave Bohren alone!! I think to be on Ipecac you must be contractually obligated to let Patton sing on yer sh*t at some point. If you're going to let someone do vocals over such beautifully ominous music, get someone like Leonard Cohen to do it. One of the best parts about this group is its lack of vocal agenda anyway. Done venting.

Bohren and vocals? That's just wrong.

Patton really ought to stick to his own projects and stop messing up other people's bands.
