@@j.michaelgarland7163 I didn't mean to offend you, but a lot of violists like Tamestit or Timothy Ridout radiate and play beautiful too. There is no number 1 today i think

Bravo! This Bohuslav Martinů's "Rhapsody-Concerto for viola and orchestra" is one of those works I called "rare and well-done" pieces. It may sound "modern" to some ears but it is timeless and universal. The collaboration between Amihai Grosz and the Warsaw Philharmonic is, in my opinion, closely knit as in a piece of well-crafted tapestry, a musical one, that is for all to appreciate and enjoy for a long time to come. By the way, for those who visit this uploaded performance for the first time, be sure not to miss the encore, the first movement of Max Reger's (1st) Suite for Solo Viola. The encore is a token of gratitude not only for the audience but also for the orchestra members who helped him bring out his supreme music making. Thank you, Amihai Grosz, Maestro Kaspszyk and all musicians of the Warsaw Philharmonic. (I'm hailing from Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. and I adore the mellow sound of the Warsaw Philharmonic as much as I like my local orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, To me, these two orchestras have a lot in common, as in twin brothers or sisters.)

Grosz is a compelling player! I wonder if composers have written specifically for him.

Yes, awesome performance! The phrasing, the dynamics, the the fine shifts in tempo - the music breathes, literally! My understanding of this piece is strongly influenced by its interpretation by Josef Suk and Czech Philharmonic (Neumann as conductor), a recording I "grew up" with; this is the first time I have found a performance to match it. Bravi!!!

So few great composers wrote for the viola soloist so why is this not performed more often? Kudos to Warsaw!
