In my younger years I had an elpee of that concerto with Lily Laskin as the soloist and i am very pleased to find that same concerto on KZbin with a young lady who easily compares with Lily Laskin!

This is one of the best performances for this composition. Highly recommended. The harpist is one of those rare musicians who interpret this piece so well with the maestro (Pasquale Valerio) and orchestra - it is pure magic and delight.

This video has a number of special delights. It appears to be a very good single microphone single camera performance. It appears to me to be a really good chamber orchestra and a spectacularly lucid harpist. Beginning about 25:00 a number of very interesting relationships are revealed. Notice who the harpist gives the flowers to. Notice the musician who gestures to the audience. Rewind the video and notice the expressive eye movements of the violinist who is seated to the viewer's right of the harpist. What a delightful, happy video. Best wishes to all the performers.

It is quite surprising to note that Boieldieu, who was famous for his "opéras comiques (La dame blanche ....)" which, honestly, are medium quality works, wrote one of the best harp concerto ever written, with Haendel's, whose concert is somehow lost among organ concertos (the reason being that , as all the organ concerti, he had first been conceived as a divertilento for the Hloy Caeccikia's ode). Among late romantic composers, there is an interesting concerto by Carl Reinecke, and of course Debussy and Ravel's masterpieces for harp and chamber orchestra (writtezn for the so-called Pleyel's 'chromatic harp'). The double concerto by Mozart looks more like an obligation than an inspiration; bit indeed it's Mozart who held the pen.

Great performance by Hainen of Boieldieu, perhaps, his most famous Work. Harp concerts where popular during the pre-romanticism times. They the became just as stings instrument in the orchestra. Therefore, it is not very say to find videos of these harp concertos. Nonetheless, this i one of the few and it is great! Saiikova and Dornik do also a very good job.
