Sir! You are a genius! It's minus 3 outside so you've saved the day here with your WD-40 trick!❤

Many many thanks. Exactly the same problem as mine. No local plumber nor stores could get that complete blower for weeks and if they could it would be £200 + . Well under way with repair, even thinking of turning up two new phossy bronze bushes in place of bearings . Cheers, stay safe. Mikep.

Hey Mike. Glad ya found it useful and hopefully everything fires up nicely for ya when it's finished. I got bearings from a local supplier really cheap and I opted for the shielded version. Helps keep dirt out and grease in. The original bearings lasted maybe 20 years or more so I'd be confident these will long outlast my boiler at this stage.

@@CptMishMashVonRandom local stockist had similar bearings in stock , so all back together and fine. Cheers

It seems the correct way to do this is to leave the fans alone, and access the lower bearing by sliding the rotor off of the shaft. I have attempted it the same way you have and now find that the cooling fan will no longer grip the shaft. But brownie points for nice video.
