@@sinntamang Mine had a thick cloth gasket, I have reused it. The fan's job is to drive harmful gases out of the flue outside the house. The fan will start 1st and then everything else. So, the short answer is: needs to be sealed.

You better off checking the resistance and add oil, not DW40, as when the bearing spin gets hot and DW40 will not help 😉

You're not Gas Safe. Everyone thinking of doing this without being gas Safe engineer you don't have a FGA or the means to test for carbon monoxide and that the boiler is is burning correctly and it's actually illegal. He should of told you it's illegal if you do

Legally you can work on your own boiler, its illegal to touch anyone elses. This is a story spread around by gas engineers. I am a memeber of the Chartered Institue of Building. I have teams of gas engineers working for us in social housing so I know what I am talking about.

This is AGAINT THE LAW To try this... You are encouraging people to break the law and put peoples lives and property in danger. You need a Gas Safe Registered Engineer .. It is amazing how you couldn't wait for a couple of days for an engineer to visit but you could wait for the delivery of a new fan. I know for a fact you would NEVER Be able to get a new fan immediately without ordering it.

Yes this is illegal, unless you are gas safe registered you should not be attempting this. I know for a fact i can go collect this exact fan from my local Wolseley today.

Not illegal at all, you need to be gas safe registered to connect the system to the main gas supply, you can hang the boiler, and repair the fans, but you cannot touch any of the gas carrying components.
